Who is Loveridge?

Sounds legit. BYU can always use another 6-6 threat. He's a Junior so he'll start contributing in 2012 if he chooses BYU.



Anyone have the inside scoop on him?

West Jordan (Utah) High School player who is averaging almost 25 ppg this year. Now, maybe someone who has actually seen him play could expand on that.

Outside of utah county? I hope coaches get reimbursed for that travel.

Jordan Loveridge is a 6'6" Tai Wesley clone. He's athletic, strong, has long arms and huge hands.



He's working on an outside game but we missed on Tai, and we better not miss on Jordan... of course we offered Jordan and in the past didnt' have a scholarship for Tai...



He's the perfect 4 for our team.

We didn't miss on Tai. Tai didn't want to come to BYU. BYU wanted him to go on a mission first so BYU would have scholarship when he got. He didn't want to wait for a scholarship so he went to Utah State. But then he went on a mission first anyways.

He wanted to make a name for himself rather than spend the next four years being compared directly to his brother, which is stupid too because he still got compared to his brother. That's the nature of being a younger brother.

Brandon Gurney wrote on ksl.com (June 6, 2011) some insights about Loverdige's interest in schools that have offered him a scholarship. Regarding BYU,



“I was real excited when BYU offered me for sure,” he said. “Coach (Dave) Rose offered me while his team was playing so well, so the fact that he wanted me to be part of his program definitely took me a bit by surprise, but it was a great honor.”



Loveridge was a regular attendee of BYU basketball games last season and took part of the enormous excitement generated by the crowd in the Marriott Center.



“Those games were absolutely incredible,” he said. “The atmosphere there is really amazing with how much the students and the crowd get into the game. I’d definitely love to play in front of a crowd like that. It’s just real exciting down there.”



It’s not just the game atmosphere that attracts him to BYU, however.

“I love Coach Rose and how he talks to you. He’s a great guy,” he said. “I’m LDS, so I like that BYU has good standards and a clean environment. That’s not the most important thing to me, but it’s definitely a nice thing that BYU has.”

Yea, because Lee Cummard came home early. What would you have done? Tai didn't want to wait for BYU to get one for him, which they would have. It a personal belief, but I think Tai would have been served much better if he would have taken the walkon at BYU and we'd have had a scholie available soon enough, but it's one of those things that didn't work out. Tai had a great career, but he would have found a lot more spotlight being on the BYU sweet sixteen team and could have maybe taken us past Florida.

Kid knows how to try to make everyone happy with his responses and doesn't give away one iota of inclination to which program he would be most interested in. Is he LDS? I'd have to say after just reading Brandon Gurney's last DesNews article that he would most likely go to where he could play more than sit. I don't know that BYU is the best option for that and I hope it's not as this is no superstar and if we don't already have sufficient people of Loveridge's ability on the team ahead of him, then we're in bad shape. I believe we do, but for the most part at BYU, if you earn playing time, Rose will give it to you as a freshman, but if the the great Jimmer had to wait his turn, don't get too nervous if you don't start the first year.
