Texas Longhorns = NY Yankees?

Maybe this question has been posed on other threads, but does anyone else think the Longhorns are now becoming the NCAA's equivalent to the Yankees?

Feminists would agree in the male dominated consumerism by pointing out long, horn, and yank.

Similarities: Widely recognized venue, name, and prestige. history of winning. have produced some heroes. Both have their own TV station now and have rabid followings.



Differences: UT stadium holds more people than Yankee stadium, but nothing is bigger than Yankee stadium. Sorry. It's a venue of venues. About the only thing that compares is Madison Square Garden and the Statue of Liberty.



UT - worth about $119 million + new ESPN contract of $300M over 20 years =$320M total accounting for TVM

Yankees - TWENTY SEVEN world championships...um. yeah.

Texas has the Texas. Yankees have NY... wide open spaces and low house prices vs. Money capital of the world and Central Park.



end result: sorry Texas you have a lot going for it, but everything in the yankees corner is a MULTIPLE of what Texas has in their corner. Maybe someone wants to compare the Yankees to the next best franchises and do the same for texas.. but in my mind, it's not even close.

Yeah, there's no salary cap in baseball, there are scholarship limits in college football. I would say that SEC teams buying all their players are a lot more like the Yankees than the Longhorns.
