Kitic MWC Standings

Every two weeks the "top 4" and "bottom 5" will change. Although at this point it's really a big 2, middle 3 and awful 4.

Jan 5-19 Top 4: SDSU, BYU, UNLV, UNM

Jan 20-Feb 2 Top 4: SDSU, BYU, UNLV, CSU



Teams earn 3 points for a road win vs a top 4; 2 points for a road win vs bottom 5; 1 point for a home win; 0 points for a road loss; -1 point for a home loss vs top 4; -2 points for home loss vs bottom 5.



Here are the standing through Jan 19 games:

SDSU 9 pts (wins: @ UNM, @ TCU, @ Utah, vs AF, vs UNLV)

BYU 7 pts (wins: @ UNLV, @ Utah, vs AF, vs TCU)

CSU 5 pts (wins: @ UNLV, vs TCU, vs WYO)

UNLV 0 pts (wins: @ AF, vs TCU; losses: vs BYU, vs CSU)

UNM 0 pts (wins vs CSU; loss: vs SDSU)

AF 0 pts (wins vs Utah; loss: vs UNLV)

Utah -1 pts (wins @ WYO, vs UNM; loss: vs BYU, vs SDSU)

WYO 1- pts (wins: vs UNM; loss: vs Utah)



Please check my math. Teams won't lose points if a team rises or falls from a group.

Seems like scores should be adjusted as well if the top and bottom teams are adjusted, otherwise you could end up with two teams with identical records against identical schedules, but with different scores depending on when they play each other. Ie, sdsu got 3 points for beating unm and we would only get 2.

Maybe I should just completely simplify it, +1 for road win, -1 for home loss.

Has utah really won that many games?

I'm starting to think the MWC only gets two bids this week. Maybe if someone else besides SDSU or BYU wins the Las Vegas Invitational then three will go.

Agreed. Two weeks ago, I thought we had a strong league with a good chance to get four teams in.



Now I think we're a top heavy league with a decent middle and poor bottom that is only going to get two teams in.
