On the subject of the podcast- the place of college sports in a professional world-



In the long term I see European style sports academy's starting up. The elite kids in college sports are on a internship in preparation for a pro career. They would be better off on a club contract that will let them earn a little money and focus on their upcoming career. That way the NCAA doesn't matter. The student athlete ideal is pushed aside.



That would be the most fair to the kids.

Good luck convincing parents that their child forgoing an education for the remote possibility of a career as a pro athlete is a good idea.

I like the idea but in addition to Kitic's point, any new 'academy' is going to have to compete against the aura and presitge of USC, Florida, Miami. I mean, let's look at their athlete recruiting process:

Not saying it couldn't be done, but you face an uphill battle.
