Trap Game in CO

RPI has us winning a in Colorado Springs by 1-point. Factor in the look-ahead factor for the SDSU game after that and we could be looking at a serious trap game.



What would have to happen for CSU to win?

jimmer shoots a poor percentage on too many shots, davies gets in early foul trouble, not many assists, giving up lots of offensive rebounds. I think if all 4 happen, they're in trouble but I think they have enough to overcome even that.

Traps are what they describe, unplanned losses. They can and will, from time-to-time happen. With that said, this is a team that lost both to Sam Houston State and the Hampton Pirates--a team only 3rd in the MEAC at home. It's like stepping outside to find a billy-goat on your sidewalk. Sure, if you stick out your hand in front of his face or turn your backside he'll maybe knock you to the ground, but it's still a goat and if you can't kick a goat sideways, you're in sad shape.

I am a little bit worried, but they don't have any game-changers that we have to worry about. That being said, CSU is having a better year and have proven to be one of the stronger teams in the conference to date. We definitely need to be ready for them.

No chance we lose, these guys haven't beaten anybody good and have lost to some awful teams. If our two best players weren't seniors then maybe it's a trap game, it's nice to have your best players be seniors.

CSU will bring it's A game. Every team we play will put forth its best effort. I don't think CSU has the horses, even if running at their peak. We lose this game if we show up ill-prepared.



I'm not too worried about Jimmer. He seems to shoot better when on the road anyways. My guess is he feeds off the negative energy when on the road and loves to silence the home crowd.



Davies in foul trouble could put us in a bind. We'll need Jackson to show up too on offense so it's more than just Jimmer and Davies putting in points.

We get everyone's best effort, but utah's of course.

It must bring him back to the good ol' days when he used to play at the prison. ;)

I said a few weeks ago, that given CSU's play this year, the MWC championship may go through Ft Collins. I wouldn't be surprised to see CSU beat SDSU, UNLV or UNM at home. They won't get us. We're the most mentally tough team in the league.

We have had consistent play from Jimmer all year. In his bad games, he still goes double digits and usually over 20 and is consistent on assists, turnovers, rebounds, etc. Jackson has been consistent since he got pain eliminated. Pretty much since the UCLA game. Davies started coming alive just before the UCLA game, still spotty early in the UCLA game, but came on at the end and has been consistent since. Foul trouble - yes - still a worry. Hartsock has always been pretty solid but stepped up a notch after the UCLA game and / or the rollover of his car. And the last few games K Collinsworth has been looking more consistent.



Starting five have become pretty consistent. Others step up at times in reserve roles. CSU cannot double team Jimmer and not pay for it somewhere unless Davies fouls out. So please mention to Brandon - no stupid fouls - he will get his share of fouls without any stupid ones and cannot afford one of those.

I am going to retract what I said. I am watching CSU handle UNLV in Vegas right now and I forgot all about Ogide. He's the kind of kid I wish we could recruit! Besides him they have a couple shooters who make their 3's when open. These guys look more refined than they have been in the past. This game on Saturday is going to be the biggest of the year for the school and the fans--I hope our guys come to play.

I was impressed with Davies play against TCU - only 1 PF in 30 min of play. I watched the game waiting for Davies to make one of those fouls that make you scratch your head but he never did.

Jimmer had one of his worst shooting percentage games last night. I'd bet that doesn't happen twice in a row. He will have another great game and they will be too star struck to do anything about it.



I do hope we don't get off to one of our slow starts and give them any undeserved confidence.

Well hopefully that was a trap game for UNLV. I never expected whatsoever that CSU would take down UNLV in Vegas. That got my attention and I'm sure it did the Cougs as well. It's not much of a trap when a team does that in the game before you play them at their home.

The KU game was played at KU, for the fans this will be huge because it will be a home game.

also if you watch the video on your link, the giant KU bird is not on the floor and the out-of-bounds says Kansas City instead of KU or Jayhawks. But then, I don't spend a lot of time in Kansas...

There are no trap games for either BYU or SDSU this season. They know that as long as the other team keeps winning, they have to keep winning; therefore, each game is important.



Of course, CSU got BYU's attention more fully after last night's beat down of UNLV, a short-handed UNLV mind you. Rose will go into this game well prepared and the team is well rested. The big challenge will be the foul situation for the big guys among Hartsock (not to worried about), Davies (very worried about), Rogers, and Anderson (always worried about). Jackson is playing inspired ball and Jimmer is Jimmer.



There are things to be worried about, but CSU as a trap game is not one of them.

If BYU shows up in Colorado Springs instead of Ft Collins, CSU has a real good chance of beating BYU.
