MWC Player of the Week

So does Jimmer have to share? Does not even get a bite? Win it alone?

Are you asking who the mwc chooses? or who "I" think should win it?

Who will be announced tomorrow.

Everytime a BYU player or coach wins a more important, higher status, and more meaningful award, the mwc splits or deny's that same person. Jimmer won MVP of the week nationally, but wasn't good enough to win it in conference. How does that work?





So, when Jimmer has 100 points, shoots 80% fgs in 2 games and gets us into the final four, I expect the MWC to give POY awards to that towering Foster who plays for utah, his blocking ability is just to much to overlook as he averages 1.25 blocks per game, which in the words of Hair: "is just too much to overlook".





I'd vote for Jimmer regardless of anything else

Leonard is tearing it up on the boards. thats pretty impressive to go along with his points. If Jimmer had 20-25 to go along with his 47, mwc conf would have to be criminally insane not to give it to him. BUt it was lowly utah and his 47 looks only slightly better than the others with two games worth of stats.

the mwc is a joke and they are putting their eggs in the baskets that are staying. this should not come as a surprise.

I know its a player of the WEEK award, not just of one half, but Jimmer's first half vs Utah was something that MWC basketball has never even sniffed before.

Jimmer won't win this week. He let UT "lock him down" and only scored 15 in the 2nd half. Also, the Utards and the MWC expressed some angst with his out-in-out. So he won't win at all.



Truth be told, I haven't played my contrarian card today, so this was a good opportunity.

I think Leonard gets it alone. A huge stat line in two big games against quality opponents will beat out Jimmer's stat line from a rivalry game against a sub-500 team in a nearly empty arena.

It wasn't nearly empty, it was full of Cougar fans! :D

It was the missed dunk...How could he? ;)

MWC gives it to Leonard. Supposedly, Leonard has the best chance at representing the MWC in the NBA. The MWC has to prop their boy up as much as possible and get him out from under Jimmer's shadow.



They'll use any excuse they can to not give it to Jimmer. Sure Jimmer put up 47 pts, but BYU only played one game this week.



I'm kind of okay with it too and actually sort of want the MWC to slight Jimmer. Not only does it add some fuel to the fire for Jimmer (clearly he doesn't like be slighted), but it also exposes the MWC for the biased conference it is. Let the rest of the nation fall in love with Jimmer while the MWC continues to bite the hand that feeds them.



P.S. With just about every major college basketball sports writer in the nation telling everyone to go out and subscribe to the Mtn just to watch Jimmer, I'm sure Comcast and the MWC will get a boost in viewership this season. And, it's all thanks to Jimmer. They should just write in Jimmer's name for the rest of the season as POW. They owe it to him.

Looks like even the idiot MWC will buckle against a hailstorm of National Media Pressure (and the egg on their face over the last time making Jimmer share the award). I almost feel bad for Leonard too. Averaging 17 16 4 over two games against 2 of their 3 power opponents, in most circumstances WOULD get him a share of conference weekly honors, and if they hadn't screwed up and made Jimmer share it last week, I'd have been fine with giving Leonard the share this week. The voters just knew they would look like absolute IDIOTS if they did it two weeks in a row.



But hey, good for Jimmer!

dont worry. its a ruse. leonard will get PoY-and it will the MIC's (Mountain irrelevant conference) parting shot at BYU.

My thought is to add his season averages to get an idea of how he probably would have fared had he played a second game.
