I'm actually not a huge fan of playoffs. I think they diminish the regular season. Football is a bit different since you don't play every team. But in baseball, hockey and basketball, they make the regular season relatively meaningless.

Playoffs rule. If a team dominates during the season, why should they fall apart in the postseason. Especially if it involves a 7-freaking-game-series and that team that performed well gets the huge benefit of playing the team that struggled the most, first.

Why should a team that dominated the regular season have to prove again what they just did? Why should a team that struggled in the regular season be given a second chance?



I get the "need" for playoffs. And yes, a team that dominates the regular season shouldn't fall apart in the post season. But sometimes they do and it's a shame that at times, their spectacular regular season is all but forgotten (see the Seattle Mariners in 2004).



Full disclosure: I'm an RSL fan and loved that RSL snuck into the playoffs last year and then went on to win the Cup.

And the only way to win a championship should be to finish the job in the playoffs. If you can't finish off RSL, did you really deserve to win the championship?

I see where you're coming from, but I love playoffs. Especially since we get to deal with the atrocious BCS every stinkin year.
