That would be nice unless he follows Chow because I can't imagine Chow coming to Provo for too many reasons to enumerate. Hopefully the unsettled situation there would cause him to consider the place he should have picked originally. I am really hoping our new guys can impact a few situations like this quickly. I also hope we soon resolve our own coaching musical chairs uncertainties so players know who they will play for. Sign him up - I know it was painful to miss out a few years ago. He will likely have opportunities on and off the field at BYU that cannot be matched elsewhere.

It would just add to our streak of pac10ees, who have recently quit to come to BYU. X could be another one of those.

Xavier Sua' Filo will not go to Arizon. My Nephew went to High School with X & went to UCLA together. X loves UCLA. But, now that Norm Chow is not there - I personally believe it opens up some doors. We will see. All speculation. Interestingly, both X and my Nephew are on missions in Florida right now. Perhaps he could talk to .... hmmm.

A couple of recruits from Florida - I like that. They proba ly have even gotten faster hanging out un Florida. The bad part is they probably live the people of Florida now and maybe even love the SEC. We need to get those young men out of Flirida ASAP - while the spirit is strong.

I recall some fellow CCers going to the Florida St game in Florida where X is serving. They talked with him, cause Elder X went to the game, too. I swear they said X has every intention going back to UCLA.



Was it Kitic who talked with him? I can't remember. Mayber Urroner was there too.

I remember Urroner went to the game. I don't remember if he talked to X. I also remember someone posting that they saw & talked to "X" @ the Florida St. game. I do know, my Nephew would see "X" around the UCLA campus & they'd talk. Both of them love UCLA. It is a great school - great neighborhood & close to the beach. (Not downtown L.A. like USC - a crap hole.)



Anyway - "X" had every intention of returning to UCLA when he left on his mission. But, while on a mission people change & grow (look @ Max Hall), and circumstances change back home (Norm Chow being fired). And - the Coaching changes @ BYU - combined w/ the new Independent status. All it will take is for the Y to have a great year this. So - IMHO - it is a new ball game concerning "X." A whole new universe! IMHO.

I talked to X at the FSU game. Me and my 2 brothers. He said he loved UCLA, and he missed football, but loved serving. Basically said the right things. Was a really nice kid for sure. I would be surprised if he left UCLA, even with Chow gone. Now if Slick Rick gets canned after next year, things might change. Guess it depends on who comes in. But since he was first team Freshman PAC-10, I would expect any coach to want him back.

UCLA is a great school. I was accepted into the PHD program there to study organizational behavior, but my scholarship was tuition and books only so I turned it down, moved to So Cal to work and save up some money and go later. Well 40 years later, I still never got around to it because the proverbial opportunity cost got too high.



With X, he gas a scholarship to a great academic institution filled with beautiful young women and in a great locale. But BYU has some on and off the field advantages that may appeal more now than then that might offset the BCS stature advantage if YCLA and the academic prestige and economic value of a UCLA diploma. For a RM, priorities could shift.



You cannot beat BYU as a place to stay focused on selecting an eternal spouse to be the mother of your children and to avoid getting distracted by women who look hot but would not work out eternally.



UCLA always has and always will be athletically and academic prestige wise - little brother to USC un LA and an also ran un the PAC 10. Slick Rick already had a slimey reputation before leaving his last school in shambles. How long did it take his last three schools to recover from Slick Rick. Rick has failed already at UCLA having picked his dream team coaching staff loaded with ex-BYU talent at OC and DC and even after paying them really big bucks - both will be gone. Rick will be gone after another season or two of mediocrity. The plan to surpass USC died. There will be no NC or PAC 12 title or BCS Bowl, or any of the hoped for glory.



BYU may or may not get him to a BCS Bowl, but has a better shot at it than UCLA.

The good news is that Elder Filo has all the tools to know what is best for him. I wish him well. It would be awesome if he were to come to BYU....
