How far up does BYU move up next week?

How far down does Duke fall...probably still top 10.

We're probably getting close to our ceiling.

Much like SDSU is.

SDSU has been at their ceiling for some time now.

sdsu is going to lose by 15-25 to BYU. SERIOUSLY. I called unlv a week early, and I think this game is even easier...obviously. GET THERE if you're within 50 miles.



Anyways, BYU will move to 8-10 range, but expect the best.

We are not at our ceiling. It is tto early to tell how far we will rise this particular week - becasue the wek ain't over and there are more games for others to play. Unfortunatley, we have to wait until Tuesday. But we ar emuch more visible nationally than we were last time the pollsters voted. That will help. We will not pass Duke unless duke loses again. We probably will pass the #8 team tha tlost - whomever that was. I expect to be #10 or higher in both polls instead of 10/11 and if a masacre happens again this weekend - higher.



But bear with me - if we win and win and SDSU wins and wins and we beat the #6 or higher team in the naiton in a couple of weeks - we will zoom right up to #6 or higher.



Then if we just keep on winning and winning and just don't lose again - NC.



Short of that - if we win out until we go to SDSU at their crib - Top 5 by then - definitely. So the question is can we string those wins together. We certainly should be competitive in every game and probaby favored in all of them up until the visit to SDSU in San Diego. But even if favored in every game - will the odds catch up to us and how may times?

I could see us at 8 and I don't see a ton of movement until we play SDSU at home. Win out from now til then and we'll be top 5, easily and likely the #1 in RPI.



at CSU will be quite the test



SDSU does not look good right now inspite of being undefeated; they still cannot shoot and don't make good decisions with their shots... of course they have 4 6'9" dudes that can dunk anything around the rim so they can afford to miss a few.



We zone and box out and we win at home.

It will be interesting to see. Public perception and the recent pub Jimmer is getting could take BYU to an 8 or 9. but beat sdsu and that would take byu at least to a 6 and then the polsters will wake up and put on the brakes. A win at sdsu and that will provide at least some forgivability if we drop a game to another team (duke losing to fsu--of course we are no duke) without falling out of the rafters, dropping ten spots.

Out rpi should drop as we play MWC teams. That has been surprising to me to see how high that has been Good stuff nonetheless.

Maybe some of you have some insight on this: RealTimeRPI has BYU at #3 (down from 2 after the Utah win). All other things being equal, this would imply a #1 seed. The bracketology on the same website, however, shows BYU as a #5 seed, which would imply no better than a 17 overall seed. Do they expect BYU's RPI to move down that much by the end of the season, despite only one projected loss? Or are they just factoring in anti-BYU bias?

Our RPI is high because we have a lot of non-home wins. Home wins count for less than other wins. So we actually have more wins than Duke in the RPI world because they've played all of two true road games.

yeah, sorry I was not clear. SDSU has been at their ceiling for a good bit now and I meant that we would join them since they have already been at their ceiling.

If either BYU or SDSU win out through and including MWC tournament, #6 is not their ceiling. Others will lose and an undefeated SDSU or a 1-loss BYU team with about 30 wins would be ranked top 4 or probably higher and would get a #1 seed.



It is not probable that either team will win out - so probably a moot point - but it is entirely possible that one of them could do it - 5% chance at best.

Games I'm not sure either club escapes with a win:

@ UNLV, @ BYU/SDSU, @ UNM, @ CSU



SDSU is really behind BYU in the standings. They've got to either go win @ UNLV or hope BYU slips on the road outside of the trip to SDSU.

Yes - BYU is already in the drivers seat. That defeat of UNLV in Las Vegas was epic. Some utes are trying to suggest that the BYU seaosn will not be a success unless we go elite 8. I responded that the BYU season is aready a success because of that win in Las Vegas and the butt whupping of the Utes in SLC. It will be disappointing if this team does not go at least sweet 16 because it looks like they might have the right stuff to do it, but this season will be a success unless the team suddenly implodes - not going to happen.



But yes- until SDSU wins one of those games you listed without us winning another one of them - we are in the drivers seat and even the MWC (UNLV) tourney doesn't look so hopeless anymore.

Not be a success unless we got to the Elite 8? Never ceases to amaze me how dim witted Utes can be. Whatever helps them sleep at night, I guess.



And the Ute's season won't be a success unless the finish ahead of TCU. Pac 12 can't come quickly enough for them.
