Does Jimmer Pass Ainge

Currently, Jimmer has 2001 career points at BYU. He's 467 points shy of Ainge's record. There are 13 regular season games left. Assuming we go to the final game of the Las Vegas Invitational and make it to the Sweet 16, that gives Jimmer 19 games to catch Ainge. To pass Ainge, Jimmer would have to average over 24.6 pts/game. Right now, Jimmer is at 26.1/game. If Jimmer keeps the current pace going he'll pass Ainge, assuming we play 19 more games. But 26.1/game is a pretty fast pace.



Whether Jimmer passes Ainge I think has more to do with how well the team does and how many games in the post season we play as opposed to how many points Jimmer can score. Make it to the Elite 8 or Final 4 and Jimmer has a real good shot.

If Jimmer hadn't basically missed four games last year he'd have a lot better chance. He's got 2,001 points, if he had played those four games without mono and averaged his non-mono 2009-2010 score of 23, he'd have an additional 92 points. He'd be at 2,094 and only need to average 20.7 over 18 games to pass him.

He will have only 20 points in some games. So will he have 35 in the same number of games he drops to 20? Will BYU make it to MWC finals game? Will they get to second round of NCAA tourney? Again, 25% chance.

BUt hey, 1 in 4 chance, with no money on the line, not a bad bet to make or believe in at this point.

If he does, he ends up as PoY in ncaa or at least tied or second. But dont count on MWC PoY. that's going to Leonard--count on it.--its Hair's attempt at getting the last word, the last slap.

Yes. People still need to see the "magic" that's been happening. Jimmer is going to help us win at sds home against unlv, sds, nm, etc, and on the road at nm, tcu, etc...
