Jimmer's First Bad Game

So, when will it be? I was so pumped last night I can't even put it into words. I keep asking myself, "how long can Fredette keep doing this?" He is gonna have a bad game sooner or later, I just hope like heck it's not when San Diego State comes to Provo. As much as I LOVED last night, I would have rather seen him hang 47 on San Diego State. Well, OK, maybe I would like to see him still do that anyway. :lol: But he will have to have a bad game sooner or later.....won't he??

Fredette has his share of bad games - especially when triple teamed. Problem is that his bad games are so good it is hard to tell that they are bad. UCLA, IMHO, was a bad game for Fredette even though he was probably the leading scorer.



Part of the reason it was a little off for Fredette, is that when UCLA focused on him, only Davis really stepped it up to take advantage of what UCLA was given. Emery wasn't healthy and others were a little cold.



Now Jackson, Davies, and Hartsock - and at times others - step up and make opponents pay when they double or triple Jimmer. So the opponents have to defend Jimmer straight up or with smaller cheats, and Jimmer makes them pay.



This is why this team has improved. Early on Jimmer was triple teamed at times and the others were missing open shots.



If the others go cold again - then Jimmers bad games, which are still pretty good, like vs UCLA, will fall a little short.



I hate having to wait a week for the next game.

Jimmers worst is over, the BYU team however, they've played plenty of bad games, and our porous defense is going to have to get better.

Jimmer is going to have a bad game against SDSU. I feel it in my bones. He is only going to score in the high 30s.

Maybe worse - mid thirties. But if Jackson goes 18 and Davies goes 17 and Hartsock goes 15, and KC goes 11 and all the others pitch in 10 - bam - 105 to 80

At this point, I'll be thrilled if Davies goes 17 minutes, let alone points...



Jimmer will get his points, and if he doesn't then we still win, with him getting 12 assists.

Seriously though, SDSU will be the test. Plan on Fisher coming up with something to try and slow Jimmer down. Good news, at this point Jimmer has basically seen every defense there is.



Fisher can't really risk putting Kawhi on Jimmer because guarding Jimmer is a full-time job and Jimmer will still find a way to chip in 20+ points. I think Kawhi has the best chances of slowing Jimmer down, but that would hurt SDSU on offense. I'm curious to see what they throw at Jimmer.



You could be tempted to play Jimmer straight up and let him have his points, but after putting up 47 (SDSU only had 55 against UNLV) on the road against a rival Fisher has to think twice about that option. Jimmer can single-handily win the game for us.

Jimmer has owned SDSU the last two years. He's played SDSU five times. Here are his numbers:

Jimmer is better this year than was the previous two. I see no reason to believer Jimmer won't continue to play well against SDSU.



Oh and his ppg includes an 8 point outing where he only took six shots.
