Noah Hartsock - Turning into JT???

So Noah's inside game is disappearing but he leads the team in 3 PT% at 68.8% on 11 of 16 shooting. I don't mind that he's able to pop a shot outside every now and then, it's just his inside game is disappearing. I thought this guy had moves in the post?? Also, we all know he's got a good shot inside the arc I'd just like to see him as more of of low a post scoring threat or at least try to be. It seems like when Davies is out of the game we abandon any semblance of a low post scoring attack.

Well he hasn't had a cold streak yet that's cost us a game, so he's not quite there. Of course JT did help us win some too, I can't forget that.





NH needs to keep his inside game up as Davies struggles to play defense, but he's shooting well so I say keep it up

I didn't get to see the game thanks to the MTN and thanks to time zone differences, but I will just assume he is taking what they are giving him re shot selection. I read an analysis a couple of weeks ago that indicated this shot was there and Hartsock was finally learning to take advantage of it. Hartsock is fine. And if Kyle Collinsworth plays like last night more consistently, BYU will be very, very, very, very, very good - ie all five spots.



Davies is also fine. Really stepped up after a slow start thus season.



IMHO, Davies stepping up and Hartsock starting to kill teams that double up and leave him open for three are the reasons we can now beat UNLV in las Vegas. That and Jackson Emery being healthy.

He's taken 16 3's on the season and we are calling him JT??? JT would take that many shots every 3 games or so. Noah has been awesome this year, the fact that he's making almost 70% of his 3's is just icing.

oh, sorry. Since the mtn made BYU basketball disappear I can't really comment on this.

I think it's the jimmer effect. Jimmer doesn't really feed the ball down-low. Watch on the high screens. Noah will come out, screen the defender and rather than cut to the hoop like he should, Noah will hang out at the perimeter.



He used to cut to the basket. But, he never got the ball. Noah gets more touches and more opportunities to score hanging out at the 3 point line with the rest of the team. The idea of feeding the post is completely foreign to this team. Davies is the rare exception.

Right, except his baseline shots have been scouted, defended and they arent all that money as they used to be. And his inside game, as a staple, is inconsistent and very swat-able. I hated this idea at first, but I cant blame him for wanting to get shots/points/action!

Besides, it works better with this offensive style. His shooting will open up the middle for Davies moreso, bc he is a legit threat out there, which leaves brandon more one-on-one for his dipsy doodle low post play (as opposed to big-man post moves).

Additionally, NH's high release shooting, when shooting from the 3 makes it too far to recover for the sagging zone defenses; Which in turn, if he passes well, opens the middle even more--IF DAVIES CAN AVOID STUPId FOULS and stay in the game!

Not even close, there are shots Noah doesn't like to take, JT was NEVER in that camp.

I liked how Noah was spotting up inside the arc yesterday and he still hit a 3. His inside defense was pretty good as well.

Ya, he and Davies did a pretty good job in the paint last night. A lot of quick little dumps by TCU had them spinning in circles but they seemed to stay level headed. Got some blocks too without fouling.

A JT that can block shots, rebound, and doesn't turn the ball over... I'd call that the best 4 man we've had in a decade.

I can only imagine the shots JT would be putting up this year after seeing Jimmer shooting those long range bombs. You know he would try a few of those himself, only with less success.

If JT had shot the 3 as accurately as Noah has this year, he'd have hit an additional 43 threes.
