Long new HC at SDSU

it's official and a good choice.



Now will BYU and SDSU play each other now that Hoke is gone.

Long will do a great job. I had hoped Bronco could lure him to provo to become the new DC. Good for SDSU.

Long fits the SDS "donor" mentality. Sure he's a great coach, but if you remember things he said about BYU, you'll remember he'd never want to coach here and possibly will not want to play BYU either.

SDSU would be nuts to play us. We beat them in our worst season during their best one. SDSUs climb from the MWC cellars was as much about scheduling as it was about coaching or better players. They usually gave had decent talent and ok coaching but underachiever on wins - due to annual road games rolling over for UCLA, USC, and other big name opponents.



BYU needs to schedule smart and everything else will fall into place. So far we are giving two many road games without an equal match at our place and not making others come bend over for us every year.



That is how Auburn got in the NC game and how every single SEC team schedules.



If SDSU schedules every year like this year - they will continue to seem better and may even get better.

If you're talking purely W/L then you're right. But the fact is that that is not the only consideration. In fact, it's not even necessarily the most important consideration. SDSU needs to keep its attendance numbers up and I can see them signing a perpetual deal (maybe 2 for 1 even?) to get us there to boost their numbers. I guess they could just have a fireworks display after every game, though but they probably lack the budget for that.

If it wasn't for a 68-yard TD pass with less than a minute to play against Missouri, SDSU would have beaten them.



They also nearly beat TCU and Utah.



I think SDSU's record is legit. It is BYU's record that was deceiving this year.
