Hoke to Michigan!

Michigan just took Hoke from SDSU.



WOW...the MWC just keeps getting worse. Pretty soon Boise St will be able to roll thru that conference as well.

mark it. sdsu won't be any good. not just because of this but because they lose those two freakishly amazing wide receivers that lindley just had to chuck the ball to.

When L'ville hired Tulsa's coach I thought that'll be a quick "fire" simply because he had 1 lucky year as a HC, what happened? He was fired at Louisville after 2 awful seasons. This is the same thing. Hoke who has done well, will get to Michigan, lose 6 games next season, lose 8 the next season, lose 9 the next season and will be fired.



I really dislike the asstecs so I'm glad this happened. Hope they replace Hoke with their previous coaches. Anyone remember their last coach? After he was let go he continued to work in his office to get paid. Craft's contract stated that if he showed up even after being fired he could still get paid if he came to work. Ha! Sounds like "donors" made the contract, probably doing Jack in the Box drugs.

I'm not so certain Hoke will fail at Michigan. The similarities to Urban Meyer's career track are interesting--



Both were assistants on traditional Midwestern powers (Notre Dame, Michigan) and got their first head coaching gigs turning around sorry MAC schools (Bowling Green, Ball State).



Both jumped to MWC schools and had two years of success. Meyer had a better base of talent to start with at Utah and his results were astonishing. It's hard to deny that SDSU has seemed to be a different team under Hoke.



Both leveraged their short MWC success into head coaching positions at power schools.



Despite the embarrassment of not getting Harbaugh, I think this is a good hire for Michigan. Hoke is a former Lloyd Carr man, and he will have the Wolverines playing tough pretty quick. I hate Michigan, but I'm interested to see how this turns out.

It's the recruiting that will take a dive. Kids that normally weren't going to SDSU gave them a shot because of Hoke (and his supposed locked up extension)... they dont' have the money or the time to salvage this recruiting class.



This is exactly what I had hoped would happen to Boise. I guess we can now take a look at SDSUs recruits.

I wonder if Rocky Long gets the gig as HC at SDSU? Seems like a great fit with previous HC experience. SDSU really needs to keep the throttle open if they want to compete in the MWC (which I think they will do) next year.

I would not doubt that. It would be very good for both parties!! It's about the only Ave. out there for SDSU. I wonder if Rocky wants to Coach again???

Long left NM because he didn't want to be the HC. Maybe his feelings have changed at SDSU. He has a chance to win there. His hire would also salvage the recruiting class.

I would think Long will be the next coach as well, if he wants it. And I would hope that he would be willing to play BYU.

I suspect that Long left NM becasue he felt unappreciated - basically said get someone else, see how they do with the realities of this program, and then tell me how awful I was. Just sayin
