TCU would have won tonight

Auburn did nothing on offense to make me believe that TCU wouldn't have shut them down; and Oregon did nothing on offense to make me believe that TCU wouldn't have done more.

It is true. And we will never know due to the aristocracy of the BCS system.

BcS = BS. Made me sick to hear about 5 SEC Championships in a row. I would hardly call 22-19 dominant. I tried to boycott by not watching, but when I flicked on the TV to get the final score - there was 10 seconds left. I wished Oregon, and I don't like Oregon, would have stood up Cam Newton on that last play and taken 10 seconds to tackle him so the clock would run out. Oh well - wait till next year so we can see who gets screwed next year. TCU got screwed this year.

+1. I was impressed by Oregon's speed. I was impressed with Auburn's massive size and their speed. I was disappointed with the Offensive execution on with both teams. Both teams had Offensive moments of "show time!" They lacked in the consistency dept.



I don't think it was a Defensive struggle as much as it was an "execution" struggle to get it right Offensively. I hated to see it come down to a Field Goal with 2 seconds left!! I detest games settled by a Field Goal. Very deflating after a monumental struggle.

I think Wisconsin could have played with either team too judging from their performance against TCU.

Also Stanford, and (gulp) Boise State. This is my biggest beef with the BCS. The BCS guidelines state that the purpose is to get the #1 and #2 teams in the same bowl game. It is successful every year at that, so idiots like Craig James and Chizik and Gee can claim that the system works. We as fans want a NC game that matches the two best teams, regardless of rank. Most years, I think the best team in the country is in the BCS championship game; for me, the issue is which other team gets to play for the title (this year is different because I think the six teams mentioned in this thread are all pretty even). BCS apologists want to claim that the current system allows everything to be settled on the field. Wrong. The only thing settled on the field is which of the top two-ranked teams is better. Which teams fill those slots is not settled on the field; it is up to computers and pollsters. I say, let the computers and pollsters settle the whole thing. Have four or five BCS games (no NC game) and then have a final BCS ranking the next week, top team is the champ. It would make ALL of the BCS games relevant, not just the NC game, and a team would still have to win its conference and BCS game to be ranked #1.

Nothing against wisconsin (they are a good team) but they were matched up specifically against TCU because of their huge offensive line. They were supposed to expose TCU's defense. It worked in a sense because TCU gave up more rushing yards to them then they had all year. What the BCS didn't anticipate is that TCU had a very good offense too. Neither of those two teams' offense last night would have done anything against TCU's defense. Oregon's "misdirection" running game would have gone nowhere vs tcu's well coached disciplined defense. Auburn's offense is all Cam Newton, he makes things happen when the real play breaks down and TCU's speed on defense would have negated that too. The real frustrating thing about this (not that I want TCU to win a NC or anything) is that both these teams jumped TCU in the rankings at some point in the year last year. The BCS is complete nonsense. There is no true College football NC. We need some sort of playoff. Right now College football is a beauty pagent and frankly the two teams that were in the "NC" game last night have warts all over their faces.

I agree hands down that TCU would've beat Oregon, I cannot say with confidence that TCU would have beaten Auburn, I would have liked to have seen TCU play either.

Well said. TCU would have shut down all that "trickeration" (Ore) and "improvision" (AUB). Especially since they would have spent most of the time helping Cam get up from under a pile and O's rb's wouldn't have gotten to the edge against TCU (and for that matter I don't think anyone will against BYU next year). BYU is probably the team that exposed TCU's one "weakness" when we were having some success with the run. It wasn't great success but it did show that it allowed us to control more of the game and keep their O on the sideline.



The thing that was irking me the most last night was how they kept saying that the SEC has won four and now five staight championships and how that demonstrated their superiority over the other confrences. Well, they get a pass to the championship game and I bet had LSU won their final game and Auburn lost to SC, LSU would have been in that game. Unlike most other conferences, they don't have to be undefeated to make the championship game.
