Carta-Samuels sounds look an academic drop out. He was a soph this year, so can not play JC ball now. If he really wanted to transfer and play, he could have gone to a Big Sky team, but didn't. So it sounds as if he did not make grades, and is a goner, with plans to transfer elsewhere after a RS year and grade improvement. Only reason I can think of to take that route.
