Chris Peterson to Stanford

Looks like Stanford is reaching out to Peterson and rather than being rebuffed immediately he is entertaining the idea.

Interesting news...nothing being reported here....Today BSU's offensive coordinator accepted an offer to be TX's new co-offensive coordinator....a week ago, BSU's assistant coach moved on to Indiana to be its offensive coordiantor. Maybe those guys know something we don't?

or at bare minimum they know the death of BSU is imminent with the MTN and MWC... Hoke will entertain Michigan offers and the MWC will be irrelevant.



It's kind of interesting the dominoes that fell with Utah and BYU.

wow. Boise is all that Idaho has. Losing Petersen would be a death knell. ha ha ha ha!!!!

Peterson has been the constant during Boise's run the last decade. With all the turn over in the last 2 years, it will be very, very difficult for Boise to survive the loss of Chris.



Maybe Hawkins would take over??!!! :P :P :P

14 days to find out if any of their recruits are good enough to play at BYU because if Peterson leaves (and it sounds like the assts are all gone) with the MWC and the terrible MTN tv contract, these kids are going to want out.

At the end of the day, BSU coaches have proven themselves to be pretty good and BSU is getting outbid for their services. So, unless Said coaches really, really, really like living in Boise, which some might, I wouldn't mind living there and if I had extended family, at some point money isn't the highest thing on your priority list.



BSU will always get outbid. It is a stepping stone program that has enjoyed more continuity than most stepping stone programs, because Boise is a great place to live for many, and a great college football town.



I used to own a music store in Boise when I lived in SLC and had some great times up there. I as a management consultant at Deloitte way back in about 1980 and had a few clients in Boise as well.



Quickstep Music was my store and the Idaho Credit Union League was my main clients. I got introduced to horse betting in Boise.



Anyway, if it comes down to dollars and cents - BSU will get outbid and it will not be close.

Peterson must know that it would be near impossible to rebuild his coaching staff to the same level of excellence. I think he goes, because he's just lost too much staff to stay.

Haha...BSU just slipped into the pit of obscurity that is the MWC. Always buy low and sell high. Looks like the coaches knew their stock wasn't going to get any higher wallowing in the MWC.

This probably helps utah more than byu.

To be honest I hate seeing this. All it took was the pac10 to invite utah and all of the sudden, death of the nonaq.



I guess this helps byu though. who is going to compete with us for the nonaq auto bid? not utah or tcu anymore. that leaves bsu and looks like things are going down the tube for them.



It would have been cool to have tcu, utah, byu, and bsu in a conference. that confernce is just as good any other conference. auto bid would have been inevitable.

Agree 100%. My initial reaction was almost exuberant having Boise St. join the MWC. I thought - the MWC could & would rival any conference in the country. We'd be a force. But - once the ship started sinking - the rats all jumped (so to speak). I am very glad BYU is "out" of MWC hell. We're "off the reservation" - not looking back either.



It Peterson jumps - the MWC will be left w/ an empty suit!! LOL!! Sweet!!

After how the Hair and the MWC treated us, their cash cow, the last few years, I'm less worried about the nonAQ and more pleased with the fall of the MWC.

This is an interesting article. Two big points jumped out @ me when I read it. I think it would hit home w/ Coach Petersen. I bet he's thinking hard. Stanford is a plum school w/ a solid program now.



#1 Stanford QB Andrew Luck is returning. Big +.

#2 Coach Petersen would continue to recruit where he recruits now. He has contacts, familiar w/ the areas, people, etc. It's just that he will be selling Stanford instead of Boise St. A much easier sell.

Petersen has been linked to AQ jobs in the past, but none has been as appealing as replacing Jim Harbaugh, who rebuilt the Stanford program and led it to an Orange Bowl victory over Virginia Tech this season.



Neither Boise State nor Stanford has confirmed the meeting.



Petersen, who has been on the road recruiting in California and Hawaii, has not responded to the rumors, but in the past has been adamant about his love of Boise State and its fans. It's the close-knit community that he likes and jobs such as Mississippi State, Miami, Washington State and Minnesota (other schools to which he's been linked) didn't really offer.



But Stanford could be that perfect combination and the timing couldn't be better.



On Friday, Texas announced the hiring of Boise State offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin, who took the same position. While Boise State is moving to the Mountain West next season, the three teams that made that conference appealing are moving out of the league. Boise State might corner the market on being a BCS buster, but the chances of it being in the national championship continue to be limited.



However, Petersen could take over at Stanford now, and with quarterback Andrew Luck returning, possibly play for a national title. No more angst about wondering how voters will perceive his team's schedule and he can continue to recruit the same areas that have made Boise State successful."

Well, he is going to have to figure out how to get his players to average a 3.0 to stay on the team, instead of the 0.3 GPA that Boise is currently averaging.

It will be an entirely different set of players. It will be interesting to see if he relates as well to that type of player.
