Ok I'm rooting for Auburn

As much as I hate the SEC and know that Cecil Newton took money... after reading this, I think the unfair advantage really lies in Phil Knight and certainly Phil Knight and Oregons success threatens BYU much more than Auburn... particularly because Aburn could win and still look like the bad guys.

Yeah I'm also rooting for Auburn but for mostly different reasons. I just want to see them smack Oregon and then in 2-3 years vacate their BCS National Championship, (I just makes it all more entertaining to watch) but I also understand you reasons and agree.

I'm an Oregonian, rooting for Auburn, I don't care about conference, I do care about history, hardwork and toughness. Oregon has none of it. Their players and their fans are a reflection of Uncle Phil - they are the materialistic, image minded and arrogant type. Oregon is about the loudest place on the planet right now and the noise is made by 14-28 year olds who drive nice cars and have a new pair of Nike shoes each week (bought by their own rich uncle or parent). The type who woke up two years ago and saw something flashy and as was their nature, bought the Oregon program hook line and sinker just like they bought every piece of name brand clothing throughout their lives. The buildings that are "athletes only" are a joke and I'm not sure how a public university could stand by and let stuff like this fly - I guess the answer's in the article - $$$. Please Cam Newton, quiet down this liberal state I live in.



I've said it all season long, once someone figures out Oregon's system, they are done. Chip Kelly likes to say its not a gimmick or a system but it is and the secret to stopping will be revealed Monday (I hope). And your right, Oregon is a much bigger threat. There are plenty of LDS athletes in the northwest and a program that is all flash and no substance will attract 16-17 year olds like power bait attacts trout. :sick: :sick: :sick:

I have no problem with Phil Knight. Dude is living the sports fan dream because he has $$ to give him access. Who wouldn't want that? I sure would. Add to it that he has been giving Oregon big $$$for years, and they are only getting really relevant the last 2 years , and I say so what again. Not like the men;s hoops teams or other sports are dominating with that $$$. Dude is a former alum as well and ran track for Oregon, so I get his devotion. I wish BYU had a Phil Knight sugar daddy because we could have told the MWC to stick it years ago. So instead of Nike being our gravy train, we have ESPN.



I hate the SEC, hate the continual cheaters at Auburn and hope they get hammered. But if they do win, I really hope it gets stripped and they get major sanctions. That would be sweet. Them losing would take some of the spotlight off of their transgressions. I like seeing the SEC burn.

It just seems to me that this guy is just practicing the Golden Rule (He who has the gold makes the rules)

I want to see Auburn win and then get stripped of the title. Oregon would get it then, but it would all be tarnished and the BCS would have egg on its face, which, IMNSHO, is a lot uglier than than mine, my ugliest only goes all the way to the bone, the BCS's ugliest goes all the way through and out the other side.

I have to root for Oregon. I am a born-and-raised Oregonian, and I cheer for the Ducks except when they play the Cougars. The 2006 Vegas Bowl was pleasing even though I follow the Ducks.

I am from Oregon and live in Washington, but as much as I can't stand Duck fans, I can't handle the SEC winning another championship, even if it does end up being vacated.

agreed, I just don't like anyone that threatens BYU or makes rules that threaten BYU and their ability to suceed.



In the pros (NFL, NBA) I don't really hate anyone except in baseball where there is no competitive balance.... (I hate the Yankees because of it) But in the NFL, I don't really hate anyone because I see them all playing (for the most part) by the same rules.



While Oregon isn't breaking rules, they sure tread on a slippery slope with a sporting gear company CEO basically running the Oregon athletic program too.

I'm rooting for Auburn because I hate Oregon worse. I usually liked Auburn more than Alabama and so that kind of carries over and as noted, BYU recruiting is directly affected by Oregon success, but whatever Auburn does generally doesn't affect us.



I have to admit that this does seem to be an interesting matchup, but I'm expecting that Oregon will roll over Auburn as their offense has been pretty hard to stop.

I'm going with Auburn because of what happened to them in 2004. They were undefeated that year and 3rd in the BCS, only to have USC win the BCS and then have their title taken away because of reggie bush. Auburn never got a chance to go for the title because of a cheater at a cheating school. You may say Auburn's in the same position that USC was and maybe so, but at least this time they get a shot at the title and sorry for TCU because they are the odd man out. Man the BC$ sucks!

When I think of both teams I think: dirty, unclean, cheaters, pac-10, sec, icky, money, illegal etc.



Cheaters always win and therefore I'd like both teams to lose.

I have no love for Auburn. They are a perpetual cheater. They got busted once in the early 90's and Pete Dye got canned. Have had some issues since. But this Cam Newton thing could really blow up on them. Auburn is in some deep stuff right now, and it could get even deeper. I hope they get nailed to the wall for paying Newton. (they did).

I have no problem with this, as long as he isn't paying athletes, or giving them anything directly. There is nothing wrong with making your school "cool" and "pretty" so people want to go there. BYU does the very same thing, on a smaller scale.



If the dude has money, I say let him spend it, and I'm not going to tell him how (as long as it is not illegal, and kept within the country). I can only imagine what that $300 mill has done in the northwestern economy.

I grew up in socal, so remain a pac 10 fan, but after reading the article, my first thought is eewwwww.



Can't root for either, it's like a death match between Gov. Boggs and Gov. Ford. Who would a Mormon root for? One issued the extermination order, the other enabled the murders of Joseph and Hyrum. Could this just go away?

Gotta go with the west coast team. I used to be an Auburn fan because of Bo Jackson, Bo knows.



I overlooked their cheating for many years, but the Cam Newton scandal made me look hard and long at their history over the past 25 years. They are as corrupt as the summer solstice day is long. They make USC look like choir boys.



Oregon is not a favorite team of mine, but I would rather see them win it than the cheating scum in Alabama.



Lastly, if Knight wants to give his money to Oregon, and does so legally, then good for him and Oregon.

I base the teams I root for based on the money they have taken from me against my will. I lived in Oregon for a bit so that means I'll root for Auburn.
