Langi to choose between USC, Stanford, Utah on Saturday

Not a big loss IMHO, but we've been following him pretty closely. Too bad he can't come here and play backup safety.

Here's hoping he picks the Trojans then.

I would be 10 cows that its usc. can't qualify for stanford and utah sucks. usc it is evne though its a dumb decision.

Its Utah. They desperately lack depth in the RB position.

I hope he picks Utah, does well, and suffers immeasurably when BYU stuffs the run and kicks Utah's butt every year he is there. I don't hate Utah - but I always root for BYU when push comes to shove.



I would only want to see Langi at BYU if he was totally committed to the HC and cutting off some old friendships - which seems not to be the case. I agree with most of what Max Hall feels about Utah and a very vocal minority of their fan base and Langi and his current pals should have no trouble complying with the few rules of conduct that might get enforced up there.



Of course USC and Stanford carry more prestige than the U, but Stanford actually has some standards and USC - well they are a little tarnished these days.



But a USC or Stanford degree and social network would be of higher value than a Ute one should he fail to make the NFL payday.

2. He'll be a USC Trojan if he wants to be associated w/ a better ball club & has NFL hopes, willing to delay being a starter till a Sophomore or a Junior - maybe not then even.



Yes - yes, the Yewts & even Wyoming send players to the NFL. But - USC is still a premiere NFL training camp & big time mass media magnet from the major L.A. media market.



I personally hope he chooses USC. After the initial glitz wears off (quickly), he'll hate going to school in the ghetto. My brother got both his 4 yr. & his MBA from USC. What a dive!!!

Won't miss him one bit. We have a pretty good RB nicknamed Juice. Phillips is also reported to be very good. I'm sure we can find another good back before Juice and Phillips graduate. There is no indispensable man.

True...sort of. I would've been hugely bummed had Heaps not decided to come to the Y. Can you imagine what this season would have been like had he not been here? Riley's arm would've given out much earlier--maybe even in Fall camp--had he been getting more reps. Then we'd have been left with Lark who, while I'm confident will shape up to be a good player, would've been fresh off a mission with limited prep in Spring ball coming in to take over for the entire season. :sick:



Other positions might be able to see good production from a recently returned RM, but I have serious doubts about a QB being able to do that, especially when that QB wouldn't have seen the high investment in reps needed to get him back in form.



No man is indispensible, but some are less indispensible than others.

Wherever he goes, I wish him well. Always like to LDS players successful.



And if it is Utah, I look forward to beating him several years in a row.

I was under the impression that he choose a school at last night's game...perhaps I was wrong in my assumptions. If he did indeed choose last night, where is he going? If not, then I wish him luck where ever he goes...except the pukes because I hate them.

Someone, maybe Craig O, posted elsewhere that the game is Saturday - not last night. IDK for sure - but that was what I read.

Depth is depth, which is important over a long season. Langi would add more depth to our solid stable of able running backs. But if he does go to another program, I will wish him well, but not all the success should he go to :utard:.

Got that right!!! I'd really love to see the Bronco/Poppinga Defense stuff Langi. He'd get his bell rung & walk back to the huddle mumbling to himself "I picked the wrong school!"

Just read the breakdown on the Army game. Went to read up on the West players and looked in the RB section and it said nothing about Langi. Scrolled down, and it talked about him in the LB section, saying he played both sides of the ball in HS. But he is playing LB in the Army game. Interesting. Maybe we have a shot to land him for the D?

It's sad that so many gifted kids get caught up in the glitz of playing offense, especially when playing defense would get them on the field more and give them a bigger shot at making it at the next level.

According to a co worker who is friends with the Langi family, they received a phone a phone call from Langi's mom and told to wear Utah gear today..

This reminds me of the ridiculous press conference Chris Burgess and his family organized at Woodbridge High School in Irvine, California for Chris to announce his choice of basketball schools. I could tell he was going to pick Duke just by the way his mother worked the bleachers - jewelry, clothes, etc.



Anyway, the Burgess stalled the announcement nearly an hour waiting for more news media to arrive since almost none had arrived at the appointed hour. Almost an hour later, still no more media had arrived, so they proceeded. When Chris picked up the Duke hat, the highly LDS crowd gasped and filed out quietly. His classmates seemed indifferent. And there was absolutely no one from Duke anywhere in sight. An appropriate symbolism to his lonely year at Duke before transferring to Utah where he also did little to warrant his hype.



So Langi will get his time in the spotlight, but if Duke fans couldn't show up in Irvine foe the #1 pick in the country, you have to wonder how many Stanford or USC fans are going to have even heard a 4* RB LB is having a press conference at a high school all-star game and dress up to see what hat he will pick. Now there may accidentally be a bunch at this venue dressed up to see the several recruits they have playing in that game, but none making a special trip to drool over Langi.



If he was picking Blue - there would be over a hundred faithful there to support him.



A few Ute fans will dress up. That is about it. USC in a down year on probation already has several ***** and **** who have already picked a hat. I don't know what Stanford has in the stable, but they likely have a decent catch as well.



For Utah, Langi would probably be their most highly touted pick. I never have time to follow Utah recruiting, but I am betting that one **** player us a big deal to their class ranking.

He Just choose Utah, it makes the most sense, he will be a starter right away.
