The Future Face of BYU Football

Bronco has revealed the trend of how he wants this team to look going forward:



Bronco - HC/DC

Doman - OC/QBC

Poppinga - OLBC



He wants highly charged, motivated, energized, agressive Y blood fanatics. They must have the respect and love of the players, be willing to go to battle each and every game and have a NC focused coaches and players.



Anyone not fitting this personality need not apply.



We are going to kick SEC/Big-12/Pac-10 trash next year and bring in recruits ner to seen before.

So - who are the realistic **** and ***** for us to chase. This class is basically in the oven and nearly cooked.



But next year



Is there a long list of Jake Heaps, Ross Apo, Fabuluge, Stout, Van Noy, or like the others that have been getting away to ND, etc kind of guys out there for us to fight for.

No need for you to be rude. If you don't know, that makes two of us. The question was addressed to the original poster who indicated that we were going to kick several BCS conferences butts in recruiting. I am hopeful that there are actually some high star power recruits to battle for now that we have an OC who has recruiting as a strength. I hope there are a bunch and that we get all of them.

I read that we're going to beat Ole Miss, Texas, and Oregon State this fall, and that will put us in a position to recruit like never before. But add me to the list of those who know nothing about additional recruit possibilities. And since Mars is taking a sabbatical from posting, don't know who here could provide that.

Easy. Bib already said in a different thread that Doman's first recruiting test is to get Langi.

In the other thread, Craig O and others mentioned Hinds and Devonte Neal. On that thread about our new OC's first recruiting challenge, I asked Craig or others to elaborate on who we are battling with and where these guys stack up. Let's let this drop on this thread to avoid duplication - hopefully we will get the latest recruiting updates on the other thread.



In that thread, I will also be very interested to know who the real gems are coming up that we will be battling for in 2012, where hopefully we have a bigger # of open slots and a stellar pool like 2010 had.

I am not sure langi is a must get for byu. Nice to have him, but we would be fine without him. Anyway, isn't he making his decision today in three days at the army bowl.

Speaking of Mars - where is he??? I have not seen a post from Mars for weeks - I think.

If there was one small change I would make, it is that I would require our Oline to get a little more nasty on run blocking. Did you guys see the Wisconsin line run block? Holy cow, those dudes got after it as a unit. It actually made it fun to watch a running game. I get that BYU is pass first, but wow, if our HUGE linemen--and our current and future lines will be HUGE, can get after it like that, we will be hard to beat.

I was thinking the same thing. What would the utah game have looked like if our HUGE offensive line were road grading like the wisconsin line was.

I refer all y'all to the recent Desnews article which quotes Doman on his approach to offensive strategy. He used words like keeping defense off balance, loves to throw, playing attack football, not being patient (with shortcomings). Our offense will not be complacent and take advantage of the weapons we have:



1. Great QB - Heaps

2. Three-headed monster at) - Juice, DiLuigi, Kariya

3. Very Strong OL - 4 starters return

4. Good WR - Hoffman, Apo, Jacobson, Phillips



If our TE play picks up, we have lots of options for Doman to use to keep the defense off balance.

Hoffman was/is good.

Jacobson was unproductive last year, hopefully he rediscovers his FR and SO form.

Apo is unproven.

Phillips is unproven.

One thing we are likely to see less of now that anae is gone and doman has replaced him is losing big leads. when we got up anae went into some kind of trance. he lost his agressiveness. not going to happen with doman.

Phillips tore it up as a scout teamer - even BL said that what he faced in defending Phillips was more difficult than game time. That's a farily heady compliment considering what he faced with SDSU and TX El Paso.



Apo was going to see more playing time than Hoffman until he broke his finger. He is much quicker, fluid in his routes and has very good, soft, hands. Jacobson's last couple of games showed he was coming out of his funk.



I really believe part of the turmoil we're saw on offense (WR, QB, and TE) was related to the different mindset of Anae and Doman in how to integrate and utilize the existing weapons.

What are you defining as a big lead?



We did give up relatively large leads against SDSU and Wyoming this year, but that was more due to turnovers and youth than a lack of aggressiveness.



I'm trying to think of other games where we lost a big lead. Bronco's average margin of victory in his 56 wins is 21.5 points. His average margin of loss is 14.8. When Bronco's teams either win big or lose big.

soft but brittle. ;) Here's hoping Apo is as good a receiver as you make him out to be.

Jason Speredon gets as mean as anyone I have seen in a long time, on the run. I think he graduates this year though... he is a great pull from the right guard.

Speredon is fantastic, I have a great sequence of pictures of him just absolutely destroying a Utep line backer during the New Mexico Bowl.
