Orange Bowl

Uconn clearly did not belong no question. And the VT Stanford game has been close, but if non-BcS teams have to meet really really specific criteria, how about BcS teams who lose to FCS teams not be allowed in any BcS game at all? Please. All I can think of while eating an orange is how VT lost to James Madison, I don't care that they got better. James Madison aint no Auburn.

Minor correction: James Madison is an FCS program, not FBS, but your point is well taken. VaTech should not be in this game after losing to James Madison earlier this season.



Stanford is exposing VT handily. I did have to laugh at Stanford. They ran a play where they shifted about 5 different times, one time it looked like everybody including the QB were on the line of scrimmage. Then the did a final shift to a conventional power run formation and snapped the ball, handed off to the RB and he was stuffed at the line of scrimmage like VT was annoyed with Stanfords band like antics.



However, Stanford threw a pass on the every next play over the top for yet another TD. Score 40-12 in the 4th quarter.

VT and UConn are poster children for how the AQ is one seriously broken element of the BCS system.

The problem we are seeing with the Big East and the ACC AQ is that they were given to these conference based on no real history of relevence. The ACC had been considered the eastern version of the WAC until FSU joined. The Big East diid not exist until the whole bowl coalition/alliance/bcs movement started. Essentially they had no track record that as a conference their champion was elite.



Pretty ironic that now they want to use a performance based criteria toadd aq conferences like the mwc.

Membership has its privileges.

Look, in college football the regular season IS the playoff. Except for when it's not. You just can lose a game in college football and expect to be rewarded for it. Except for when you can. Every game is important. Except for the ones that aren't.

Animal Farm is one awesome book.

It's been very hard this bowl season to find many real enjoyable games. You can enjoy your own team blow out their opponent even though that is not enjoyable for the mass, but the only game I really enjoyed of the BCS bowls was the Rose with Wisconsin and TCU.



I hope tonight though is another one of those situations where you enjoy your team blow out their opponent even though it doesn't make for a good game as I am and will always be a Buckeye fan. You can never leave behind that which you were born and breed to do. I've been able to add BYU to my plate, but the scripted OHIO will always put me in awe as that final " I " is dotted.



And as so many people point out, often Ohio State doesn't deserve the attention or bowl opportunities that they receive, but dang it's a great feeling to be on that side of the fence once in awhile after enduring what we do as BYU fans where usually we are on the outside looking in.

Follow this logic:



Boise State beats a top 10 team in VA Tech in Maryland, basically a home game for VA Tech. VA Tech then loses to a lower division team in James Madison at home. James Madison finished the year at 6-5 by the way. Later Boise is handed its only loss to a top 25 team in Nevada. So the powers at be say that Boise lost to the only good team they played because VA Tech lost to little James Madison and therefore VA Tech can't be that good.



So Boise DOES NOT play in a BCS game because VA Tech lost to James Madison. But VA Tech DOES play in a BCS game despite losing to James Madison.

Okay, first off, the logic expressly and implicitly dictates that VT is a...a...ummm, hang on for a second.

Okay, since Boise has a field of blue and....ummmm...I know the logic is in there somewhere, I swore I just saw it.

Best case against this is the Auburn-Alabama game. If Auburn had lost and then beat South Carolina I have no doubt they would have been in the BCS championship game (also the consensus among broadcasters on CBS and ESPN). So the game essentially didn't matter. I suppose Alabama probably would have been in the Sugar bowl if they had won the game and Auburn were in the BCS championship.



With a 16 team playoff if Alabama wins that game they make the playoffs. If they lose they are out. Auburn is in either way, but they were in with the current system anyway.
