Rich Rod out? Harbaugh in? How soon? How much $$?

So the 49ers are looking for a new HC and I have to believe that Rich-Rod just coached his last game at Michigan... (it's 45-14 in the Gator Bowl with a quarter to go)



This should be very interesting.. and out of selfishness, I want to see Stanford lose their football cache, their HC with the NFL connections, and their ability to go after our 4-5 star recruits.



USC with Kiffen will only get the kids we dont' want; even the Polynesian community can see through Lane.



Stanford gets all the kids they want that make the grade; for good or bad we haven't lost any to them because they haven't made the grade, but when and if they do, Stanford tops the list for many of them. (Langi, Meredith and others wanted Stanford badly... but didnt' make the grade... though I honestly dont' know how bad we want Langi)

As an Ohio St. And West Virginia fan I cant stand Rich Rod. And to be honest I wish him the worst although it was fun to watch him destroy michigans program even more. Hopefully k Whitt will leave and he can somehow in some impossible way becomes Utahs coach so he could destroy them too :)

That is hilarious!! I despise Rodriguez - because he is an arrogant loud mouthed punk!! I hope Michigan does NOT fire him - so he can keep the Wolverines in the toilet!! Ha-ha! But, he is probably gone. Will be holding a cardboard sign begging for money on a Fwy off-ramp!! I love it.

I want Harbaugh to leave as well. Stanford is one of 2 schools I think BYU could lose recruits to logically, because their academics are so outstanding. USc being the other, although they are down right now. Harbaugh has poached a few from us, including the Lloyd kid from AF High, although we stopped recruiting him after we got Jake. He went right to a mission, and never enrolled I beleive, so he could always switch to BYU right in time to RS a year, sit then and then play as a soph. I went to HS with the kid's dad and mom, and his mom is a BYU Fan, so who knows. His mom's sister married one of the Reid boys, and cheered at BYU.

I see Harbaugh going back to Mich before he would accept the 9ers job. I know Mich is his alma mater and has a much more storied history than Stanford, but he has something special going on at Stanford and I think he can get to the BCS title game in the next few years. Of course there is something to be said about playing in the Big House over Stanford's new stadium that seats less than half as many fans.

In all honesty, I think I'd take a college job before an NFL job. Just seems to be a little more stability in the college coaching ranks.

If I were Harbaugh, I'd take an NFL job over the Michigan job. Michigan is in shambles and Harbaugh doesn't have the personnel he needs to run his offensive system. I'm sure if Harbaugh had replaced Lloyd Carr, Michigan would be winning BCS bowls already if only because Carr and Harbaugh both use pro style sets with pro style personnel. Plus Michigan fans are at least as demanding as NFL fans, and with their recent mediocrity, Big Blue is even more anxious to win. I don't know if Harbaugh would be given the 3 years he needs to get is personnel in place to succeed in Ann Arbor.

A lot of things are lining up in BYU's favor. Who knows what 2011 will bring. And the fact TCU beat one of the darlings of the BCS, BYU's independence could pay big dividends sooner than we think.

RichRod struggled in part because his recruits weren't ready yet and he didn't enough enough guys from the previous coaches to run his system. So now, if they try to go back to a more traditional offense, that coach will be in the same boat. Trying to a run a system guys weren't recruited for and their guys aren't ready yet.

agreed. Coaches need a few years to change everything around, and rarely do schools like waiting around for that to happen. Good thing Bronco was able to win with what was left from Crowton's Crew

Regardless if (big if) Harbaugh wants to come to Michigan for $3 million/yr - they'll take him and give him his years. The question is will they do it for more money and still give him the time he needs to rebuild.. again.

Recruiting. Signing kids who would be wobbling if we were still in the MWC. But, now that we are on the big stage (ESPN) and playing teams we would not have been playing before - I think it will play dividends w/ recruiting. Of course, it also means we have to beat those "big name schools". We cannot get crushed on national TV like the Yewts loss to Boise St. (Ha-ha-ha!! Sweet!!)
