Another transfer to BYU?

TaloTBS says "A little orange and black birdie told me to be on the lookout for a transfer to BYU. Anyone know what this means?"



Rumor is a LB from a Pac-10 school has got his release and is coming as a walkon. This tweet sounds like it is from Oregon St. Is it a guy named Unga? Rumor board has been talking about this rumor.

GurneyTBS says "Looks like BYU will be getting some good help on Monday...not talking coaching changes " We'll get the official word tomorrow. this would make 3 solid transfers from the Pac-10 this year. Is Indy payoff already?

Word is it's RM Kevin Unga from Oregon State (he has a twin brother but no word on 2 transfers... yet)



Our linebacker depth just gets better and better, particularly with Hadley, Sorenson, Alisa and Pritchard getting back from missions. Bronco will be able to redshirt some of his RMs.



It also sends the message (when you add in Fangupo, Kaveinga, etc.) that BYU is THE destination for LDS polynesians and those that go elsewhere ultimately regret it.



It certainly sends the message that there's no bad blood in the Unga family for BYU.

I do not really care who the kid is, I mostly love the perception that is set by this. Max Hall from ASU, then Kaveinga from USC. Then Fangupo from USC. Perhaps now Unga from Oregon State. Love seeing kids leave PAC-12 schools to head to BYU. Will make recruits think long and hard that the grass is greener in the PAC-12. For s small few it might be, but for most, it isn't.



We have OSU on schedule next year, but he will have to sit, so I am sure OSU is fine with it. He also might be down the depth chart now. Or perhaps he is a better fit for a 3-4 than a 4-3, with OSU runs. Either way, adds to our depth in the LB group. I love the depth that Bronco is building with this team across the board. We have depth at positions now that we never had with LaVell. Especially on defense.

Love that he's coming. Not sure we need more LB's. Too bad we can't speed a few up and put them at safety. What are going to run a 3-6-2 defense? ;-)

Practice and off season workouts are going to be incredibly competitive and special teams are going to be snot bubble central.



This is the depth that major programs have with regularity.

Nothing but great from this. We're going to have so many athletes our special teams would be starters for any other program.

Absolutely bueno!! Defensive depth is critical. Due to Injuries - but just as important - rotating in fresh horses in close, tough, physical games. Exciting news!!!

I'm beginning to wonder if our non-senior LB starters from this year are going to find themselves 2nd or 3rd on the depth chart.

Stout is going on a mission.

I have not heard that Stout had even turned in papers... and Fua is going to have enough trouble putting on weight for olb... de might be a stretch in our defense. I think Bronco sees Fua as a faster lighter longer Colby Clawson.

Fua would need to put on 60-70 lbs to play DE. He weights 200lbs right now.

Bronco will definately have room to redshirt the RMs if he sees fit.

If Bronco wants his best players on the field then JP has to go to SS.

Do not see JP playing safety for BYU. Not fast enough, and bulked up to play LB. The kid is a monster and well suited for OLB. No way he moves. Plus, we have great depth in the secondary for a change--just a bit untested right now. I like where he is and just hoes he gets healthy for us.

That is some incredible depth at LB. I just don't see how anyone can run against us next season. If the secondary rebuilds quickly, we could have a very special season with the right OC running the offense.
