Pro Combat Unis

I love the uniforms this guy at cougarblue did.

At least the one with the blue helmet.

I can ask this of friends: why are these called combat uniforms--not seeing any camo...maybe looking at the Utes stupid camos has ruined the concept for me.

I don't want BYU to follow lame trends. But I do like the 2009 Royal's they busted out, I think the blue helmet white oval is cool though.

I would LOVE to see Nike select BYU in their pro combat campaign. For the most part I have liked nearly every one of their designs and teams like Boise St. and TCU have no doubt benefitted.



Obviously these unis should only be worn once or twice in a season, but I fully embrace the idea so long as there are no bibs in the design.



I would especially like to see an incorporation of gray/silver in the color scheme (love oregon's silver and whites this year).



Most importantly, if BYU is one of 8-12 schools chosen by Nike to don their elite threads, it will have a profound effect on exposure, marketing, and RECRUITING. Can you imagine how being in bed with both Nike and ESPN would bolster our national prowess? Recruits love Nike. Recruits love ESPN. I'm salivating at the thought.

I gotta admit... I like both styles johnny and Kitic showed. I even liked the silver helmet. I would like to see those for one game, but not all season long. I do think the numbers could look better though.



BUT



If we're gonna be changing our uni's, let's go back to the frickin' Royal Blues man!

Not a fan of Nike Pro Combat uniforms... they're almost as bad as Nike SOD basketball uniforms.

How about white tops with royal blue pants and royal blue helmets? Somebody work that up, I have no skills.

You may not be a fan of Nike shoes or apparel, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you're not a a 17/18 year old kid. An unlimited supply of free Nike gear to a poor college athlete is a huge deal.



ESPN and Nike have been key in Boise landing talent that had no business playing in Idaho.

I'm just not a fan of shoes that were specially designed for the Rose Bowl (the game) but apparently weren't designed for the Rose Bowl (the stadium). And for the record, I'm a fan of many of Nike's designs (football and soccer), just not the Pro Combat series.



I'm glad TCU declined to wear the Pro Combat set that Nike designed for them to wear at the Rose Bowl--the only purple on these uniforms were the socks. TCU told Nike no purple, no deal...

I like the helmets but im not a fan of the uni's. I really like the blue helmets. Add them to the all blue uni's with blue socks and black shoes and I think it would look good.

I am surprised that no one has suggested a navy and royal blue combination with white accents. The royal would add brightness and color to the navy and the navy would give strength and contrast to the royal. Either navy on royal or royal on navy with a bright white Y would really pop especially on TV. And it would bring old and new together.

TCU didn't even wear those to the rose bowl.

I wouldn't wear them in a bowl game either. For traditions sake. They can be fun for the players and fans though to do during the regular season every now and then.
