Buffalo Game

I went to the Buffalo game with my wife. I am excited for the rest of the season. If we continue to get production from our big men, we will be unstoppable come tourney time.

By the way, I ate breakfast with Jimmer's dad (nice guy) at the hotel. He has promised to wear his son's Coaches vs. Cancer pink sneakers to the conference final if Byu is playing.

We spoke for about an hour. He heard us talking about the game and just came over and started talking to us.

The crowd was about 40% Byu fans.

About 300 people from Glen Falls were there. They are great fans.

It was a great game.

Thanks for the report. Greg Wrubell kept reporting that there were a lot of BYU fans there, but I might have missed him guessing at how many by not having the opporutnity to hear the entire game due to home teaching, so I appreciated that.



I really enjoyed too the two articles that GW links over at KSL from Buffalo papers. They were awesome of their reporting on Jimmer.

Everything I hear about Jimmer's family is very positive. I wish they hung out here more! :D

Any take on the game itself? (I watched it on the buffalo stream)



My concern

1. Buffalo got a lot of uncontested high % shots, layups and 15 footers

2. We didn't dominate the boards



I fully understand that this was Buffalos super bowl and they had a ton of time to prepare for us, but while I'm glad to have the W, I walk away wondering what the take away from the game is (other than the obvious 'W')



It's apparent that Abouo and Emery have bum wheels so hopefully we wont' need them tommorrow and they can get rested for the 1/5 clash (a win there vaults us into the top 10) and maybe for once a decent seed.



We were right behind the Fredettes in Oklahoma City last year and I'd agree, he's a great guy, and a great sports fan. Hard not to like him.

Buffalo played very well and never quit. This is the type of game that would have been very easy for BYU to lose. Byu had a down game on the road against a team with a winning record and came out with a win. They let Buffalo come back early and got the home crowd into it.

Buffalo shot 56% Field Goals and FIFTY percent from 3 pt land and matched BYUs runs the whole game. BYU had several double digit leads in this game, but as soon as they had them, Butler came screaming back.



It should also be pointed out we had 29 Free throws in this game to Butler's 14. We made 22 of them to Butler's 9. In a game decided by 8 points, this was a major difference - maker (granted about 6 of those FT's were in the final minute or so to stop the clock).



If I were a Butler fan, I'd be yelling about how the game was given to us by the refs and point to the foul differential. They certainly out-shot us from the field. Good things we beat them in other areas like turnovers and rebounds.
