I'm curious. Technically both BYU and TCU are still MWC schools until this summer when BYU goes indy. So is he going to have to sit out two years instead of just one? If so, I hope it was worth it for him. I'm just glad though that he didn't transfer to Oregon after talking about how much he missed home. Good luck to Tayo. I think he could have been something special at BYU but I'm sure he'll eventually be great at TCU as well.

I'll stalk him ;) FB has been an amazingly easy resource for BYU knowledge and sports knowledge in general. It used to feel a little creepy (36 year old guy with professional degree chatting with 17 yr old kids), but now it's so mainstream that it just feels natural to see what people are up to.

For example, I knew that Ryker Matthews was committing before he even talked to Bronco and nearly a day before Gurney or Drew posted it; just from befriending kids on fb.



Plus, I get a pass from most of the kids because I have a hot wife and I don't like to look at pictures of myself when I log in. There are some things that old guys and young guys agree on, and I milk it for all it's worth. :roll:



From my chatting with a mutual friend of Apo and Tayfab; I don't think the kid will amount to anything on the football field. He's entirely too lazy and Patterson won't be having it. But dont' forget, this wasn't a football thing, not a social thing, not a be close to mom thing... Tayo was failing out academically his 1st semester. Anyone that tells you differently is lying or out of the loop.

Good insight Craigo. So you take a horse & paint it a new color. It's still the same old horse. This kid thinks "it all gets better now." Wrongo bongo. Homework, assignments, papers, tests - it's demanding wherever you go. If it was academics that rocked his world - it's not over yet. The challenge will continue.

True, but BYU is exceptionally tough academically, especially at first. I averaged a 2.85 GPA my final four years, but got a 1.7 and 2.3 my first two semesters. Getting through that first year is TOUGH. My other college experience (2 years) was MUCH easier than BYU. All my friends who have went to multiple colleges including BYU (in my case BYU, then away for 2 years, then back to BYU to graduate) all say that BYU is by far the toughest academically. I still think that the only people that get in to BYU these days are Nerds and Jocks. And, yes that was a broad brush stroke and stereotype...but mostly true.

I read freshman applications for BYU Provo. You are 99% correct.

academics at byu are almost ridiculously hard, but I like that as you actually have to put forth effort

BYU wasn't that hard. Just took effort and time.

LOL. Seriously though, there are a handful of students who do EVERYTHING well and blow your mind when you read their applications (think Brian Kariya). So I guess they are really just nerdish jocks or jockish nerds or something like that...
