And here I thought OSU stood for Ohio State University! Today QB Pryor and others suspended five 2011 games by NCAA for selling football related items. For Pryor he even sold his Fiesta Bowl sportsmanship award and his "golden" pants that OSU gave him! You woould think that Pryor and the other salesmen would be banned from the Sugar Bowl but oh no! Because OSU did not properly tell its athletes that selling athletic items is not allowed, the players would be allowed to play in the bowl game. How lame is that! But I guess if Cam Newton's dad can sell his son's services and Cam Newton can still be allowed to play, then Pryor's selling his golden pants should not stop him from playing in a bowl either..... :skeptic:

Wow! They came to that conclusion fast!

This really makes zero sense. Why would they be allowed to play in the bowl b/c they weren't appropriately instructed but then have to miss 5 games next season? If their behavior is excused b/c they didn't know and they get to play in the bowl, then it should be fully excused and not taken out against players who will likely leave for the NFL now. But, if it their behavior is not excused (as shown by next year's suspensions), then they shouldn't be allowed to play in the bowl game. It's either excused or it's not-I don't see any room for shades of gray.

Well, you have to understand that the NCAA uses a punishment wheel. Anytime they see someone doing something is either questionable or DEFINITELY wrong, they spin the punishment wheel. With Cam newton the wheel pointed towards: "do nothing". This time it pointed to "Suspend according to policy and THEN some."
