Chad Lewis Double Dip

Chad is working closely with TH and cougarclub which is good as he's the celebrity/sports legend etc. But why wouldn't the most vocal BYU fan/past player become a coach? I'm guessing (he said it to) that he'll be used in two offices during his tenure. Re-bar is too boring for him thankfully.



As past players are coming back to contribute to BYU in various ways, has any other program in the nation had this happen with so many of theirs?

Issue with Chad is whether BYU has a spot for him. Coach Anae was OC/TE coach, and if Doman gets promoted, does he also take QB coach duties? IF so, we can hire a TE coach. If not, then we will have double duties for someone on staff and not have a spot for a TE coach only. I suspect that is what happens, and i why Chad took the AD job. The news that broke yesterday has been known since before Chad took his spot.

HEard yesterday that Chad may prefer his Ath. dept. job to a grinding coach's schedule

No idea if Bronco's got a coaching spot for him or not, but in the bit Lewis did recently on Utah-local ABC, he joked that one of his conditions for taking the job was that he would be allowed to "take [his] cleats to the office" to work with the TE's and WR's.



Regardless of which way the coaching side turns out for him, Chad certainly landed on his feet going into the development gig at this time. After a dominating bowl win by a gaggle of talented young bucks and the possibility of an offensive shake-up seeing Anae out, Doman moved up, and most importantly a good chance of getting Detmer in, shaking money out of giddy boosters should be pretty easy--especially for a guy as effervescent as Chad Lewis. It's a can't miss for both him and the university. Especially if they land Detmer.

Got news for ya. Chad has been shakin the sugar trees for the last several years. He's been on the last three legacy trips to UW, UT, and FSU; been on the sidelines of quite a few games; been working with TE's for last several years--on the side--; commercials for byu, articles for Dnews, etc. BUT NOW HES GETTING PAID FOR IT.

He has been amazing for the NFL not only bc he speaks mandarin, but bc of all his "has IT" abilities with people.

He's in the perfect position for himself and his family and the football program.

Maybe Chad could recruit some tall and big center type people for the b-ball team from China.

Unless Lewis is hired as a coach he will be limited by what he can actually do in regards to coaching a position group. He might be able to monitor workouts, watch/break down film with them, etc as a associate athletic director, but I don't know if he can have a whistle so to speak. He might not be able to attend practice, run players through drills, etc.

I've been very unimpressed with the TEs this year, hopefully he'll get some good time in and turn them around.
