Drew's sources say no one was fired

BYU football spokesperson Brett Pyne just told me that no BYU assistant football coaches have been dismissed. Would not elaborate further.

Also says that the Athletic Department will release a statement later tonight.

Now Wrubell tweets the same thing.



Are we about to get really mad at Harmon for something? Perhaps harmon wasn't supposed to release the news until AFTER Christmas...

According to Harmon members of the offensive staff were asked to "seek other employment" which does not necessarily mean that anyone has been dismissed. So technically the tweets by Wrubell and Drew do not conflict with Harmon.

Brett Pyne is a tool. He's not in the loop. He's not very good at what he does. He's probably unaware of the goings on behind scenes. Dick Harmon scooped everyone on this.

This is the problem with editors writing the headlines. I understood that Harmon didn't come out and say everyone was fired but the editor's headline make it sound like they were all fired.

He is BYU's football SID. He's likely Jay Drew's source. Brett Pyne doesn't know anything someone doesn't tell him. He's likely in the dark on this. He'll be the one to write the release, but probably is just finding out about it now like the rest of us.

I am sure the realease is ready, but the timing was not expected. harmon had the story, and the DNews ran it now to scoop it. Don;t blame them. Bet it was vetted and as it is true, forced BYU to act now.

Possibly, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Brett having been completely in the dark. I've met/worked with him. Wasn't impressed.

Drew has now tweeted that other sources have confirmed it.
