Grade the 2010 Season

Here's my explanation. I gave them a "C-". Before the year, I said 8 wins would be a passing grade. Despite the amazing turnaround, I think the year has to be taken as a whole. We were a very bad team to start the year and only a bowl win saved a losing season.

I give them a C. Soldidly average, with a sub average first half and an above average second half, it all averages out to a C.

I gave them a C+ because of how they performed at the end and we all know they should have won the :utard: game, which would have been the 8th win of the season.

I went with a D. This season was slightly better than a failure.

I vote B-. I know it's too high but we lost dead weight (the mtn., the mwc, and Hill), the defensive attitude is spiking upward with offensive attitude to soon follow, we found our QB, we finished with a bowl blowout, we start independence, our returning and incoming freshmen should be awesome next year, our money making and exposure abilities are vastly improved, and Toad Christensen is dead to me. I see only positives.

the 2 QB fiasco, Utah State, AFA, Utah, TCU, Nevada were all F's or close to F's, regardless of whether it was a rebuilding year

But we may all look back at 2010 3 years from now and give it an A+, if it was just paving the way to something special. I'll take 7-6 this year, if the lessons learned and players developed lead to special seasons down the road.

What is unacceptable -- D? F?



If Bronco fires Hill to take over AND now there is rumor to fire Anae and possibly some others. Looks like that's a failure to me. Fortunately for Bronco... He was able to salvage his team mid-year.



Looks like it failed in Bronco's book, but since he was able to turn it around... I'll go with a C.

Because of the spectacular bowl victory, I gave them a c+. A Bowl loss would have resulted in a D or D-; a close bowl victory would have gotten a c to c-. I simply cannot give a non-passing grade to a team that has a spectacular bowl victory in a rebuilding year. 8)

7-6 is still a winning season. Bowl win. Season turnaround. C+ for slightly above average cause that's exactly what we were.

I gave them a B, but that's probably a function of Grade Inflation... However, it's better to judge a team that's on the move on where they are, rather than an average of where they were throughout the season.



It's kind of like if a professor asks you if you want to take the average of your semester grades, or the grade on your final. If you are progressing through the year, or reach an epiphany level that significantly boosts your performance, you are better off taking the final exam as your grade.
