There Is An Elephant In The Room

The Bowl Game is over. Bronco knows who really wanted Heaps and who wanted Nelson and who wanted the 2 QB system rather than picking one, and who would have picked who if they picked one, and who was ready and who was not and who called the plays and who did not and whether play calling or execution was the issue, etc. Or at least he should have lots of film to look at to firm up his opinions.



But it is finally time to take any and all uncertainty out of the coaching situation going into next year. Recruits want to know who they will be playing for. Some will come to BYU because they want to be at BYU no matter who is coaching. But for some with multiple good offers uncertainty will be the tie breaker.



Time has become of the essence and Bronco needs to make some decisions and some announcements.

My son tells me that rumor board, which he prefers over CC for some reason, is saying that there will be big announcements tomorrow - speculations he read and that are just that - speculations



Mike Leach to Maryland as HC takes Robert Anae as his OC and Lance Reynolds retires and his son departs for the NFL.



Smoke - Fire - I have no idea but it would be nice to move beyond the speculation phase.

Not sure I buy the reynolds rumor. I read that as well, and have heard nothing, and some of my sources are well connected. If this happens, it is because Lance Sr. wants to retire, because his job is safe. The BYU Rbs are always well prepared, skilled at passing and receiving and ready to play. No way he goes, unless he wants to.

Totally agree on coach Reynolds - only goes if he wants to retire.

I don't know how much the recruits are looking at this. The 2011 class is full. BYU just announced 2 more recruits last week. BYU can wait a week or so and not have it impact recruiting.

If anything, I would suspect he is over Anae and not vice versa. If he does retire, it will be a sad day for the team, but no one coaches forever, unless your last name is Paterno.

This will probably never happen, As I have stated before Bronco is not looking to trade one problem coach for another. If I'm to believe Bronco wants the culture to be the same on the offensive side of field as he has on the defensive side. Then there is no chance this will happen, As much as it pains me to say it, Norm was a cancer when he was at BYU previously. Just ask the majority of those that played here when Norm was coaching what they think about him. Most of them will have very few nice things to say about him. Irregardless of what Norm did at USC he was not largely responsible for the success of the big name Quarterbacks at BYU. He loves to take credit for it, when in reality it was Doug Scovill, Ted Tollner and Mike Holmgren for the most part.

I'm curious what kind of impact UCLA hurting like this and BYU going Indy has on Xavier(X-Man).



He seems to be the type that hates losing. I'm wondering if he's wavering on his mission at this moment?

I would be very surprised if someone is fired this week. Firing somebody the week of Christmas is just cold. As far as people retiring or leaving to accept positions elsewhere that could possibly happen this week.

Even though the timing seems harsh, sooner is kinder than later because all of the jobs will be filled and many have already been filled.



Chaos for a while. Hopefully things will resolve quickly.
