Andrew Rich on Jake Heaps

After BYU's dominant win over UTEP in the New Mexico Bowl - here's what Aandrew Rich (Defensive Player of the Game - yeah!!) had to say about Jake:



"Afterward, Rich said Heaps has worked hard to lead BYU's younger players and the older players noticed."



"From my standpoint, he earned it. He worked and worked and worked," Rich said. "And our team worked and worked and worked. It wasn't something magical, where he just started throwing touchdown passes. He worked his butt off."

Didn't he and Kariya and Mendenhall also say that starting 1-4 was the best thing that could have happened to this team because the talented young players, including Heaps, thought they could continue to see BYU win 11 games a year just by showing up and that they worked HARDER after experiencing the adversity?



Heaps has vastly improved and earned his status as a leader on this team. As near as I can tell, he starts next season as The Leader of this team.
