Mathews and Sampson are in the fold

Both Ryker Mathews and Joe Sampson signed up as mid year additions to BYU. Great news. They will be here in January and will participate in spring camp.



Mathews was also invited to play in the Army All American game.

I gotta assume that means that Bronco expects Ryker to immediately push for playing time in the 2 deep.



We knew this was the plan with Sampson from day 1.



Both big recruits... arguably the 2 most important.

Just walked in the door from work - opened up Cougar Corner - good news!! I know this was expected, planned, etc. But - when it happens - I breathe a sigh of relief. Things can & do go wrong. I am veryu excited for both of these additions. 2011 looks good!!

Said it before and will say it again, but I know the guy who is the trainer at AF High School. He trains Ryker, and they get into the strong man stuff. He said Ryker is already strong enough to compete for a spot, and the kid has a serious competitive streak. The trainer is shorter tha nRyker, but stronger than Ryker, so he gets all worked up when he can't do quite as much. And the trainer I speak of is a National Champ in his weight for strong man, so no slouch. I think Ryker is going to be really good for us. Bet he ends up as the next awesome LT we have in a year or so.

If Sampson has some of the intangibles of Logan (their cousins), dude will be money. 6'-0" and a 4.4 40 look fantastic at that position.

With these guys and weeks, this is shaping up to be a very solid class.

Weeks is a 2012 recruit, he isn't part of the 2011 class that Mathews and Samoson are. But its all good all the same.
