Couple of interesting stats before the game



BYU is 2nd nationally in offensive turnover percentage (13.7%) while UCLA is 210th (22%)

BYU is also 5th Nationally in TO margin (6.7pg)

UCLA is 297th percentile in % of offensive possessions stolen. BYU is 25th in defensive steals.



BYU 10th in PPG witih 83.5 , UCLA is 118th with 72.6

BYU 18th in rebounds pg at 41.7 , UCLA is 56th with 39.1



Oh yeah. and the most important stat of all 10-0 vs 5-4



basically what this tells me is if this game were played with just statistics it would be something like this:

I have an eery feeling this is going to be a bad weekend for BYU sports. Collinsworth is out and Hartsock might not play either.



I hope I'm wrong, but I think we're ripe to lose this one to a mediocre, but talented UCLA squad.

Davies and Anderson will have their hands full with UCLA 300 pound freshman center.



The key is going to be if Magnusson, Abouo, K.Collinsworth and Rodgers can provide enough rebounding.



I would not be surprised at all to see us in a Zone again.

I got an answer for the 300 lb freshman. Run it.



Press on the gas pedal and don't lay off. Move that ball up and down the court as fast as possible and wear the 300lb dude out. Anderson and Davies can both move up and down pretty well. In a half court set on offense Davies and Anderson need to keep moving to keep the lofe moving. Give him no rest. Mid-way through the 2nd half the guy will be running on fumes.



Also, the forwards and guards will need to play tough defense to keep the ball from getting in the hands of the 300 lb freshman. We're pretty good at getting in the passing lanes, so I think we'll handle UCLA's center just fine.



Lastly, we need to take it to him. Get him to foul and foul early. Anderson seems to have an ability to draw charges as well, so between Jimmer, Abouo and Collinsworth dirving it to the rack and Anderson flopping we have a good shot of getting the freshman in foul trouble.

"Sounds" like we are not rebounding right now. If this keeps up we could be in serious trouble. Get aggressive boys!

I didn't know that about Jimmer! That's pretty cool! He and TJ used to go to a local prison and play Pick-Up Games Of Basketball Against The Inmates! They would bet cigarettes against them and I guess the inmates didn't think they could beat them, but Jimmer put up about 45 Points against them. They still keep in touch with some of the Ex-Cons to this day as well!

On KSL, they said that we could get the game live on KSL Extreme, but all I get is garbage and then nothing.

we're currently shooting better from 3pt land than we are from the stripe. The only thing keeping us in this game right now is 60% fg shooting.

I think the pac-10, their refs, and the mwc should go find their 1st cousins and form one of those west coast "marriages".

it's only a matter of time before UCLA figures out we can't hit free throws for our life.

Well it turns out we're not as good as we all thought. Oh well maybe we can still surprise UNLV and UNM in their houses...I'm just sick of seeing the same movie play on a loop year after year. Surprise us just once BYU!

We're just finding out that we're going to get everyone's best shot. Teams like UNLV, UNM and UCLA will look past lesser opponents (Montana, etc) to the BYU game. They'll stumble on their way to play like all-stars against us.
