I'm going to use the last four games to show each team's current form. Remember, PER is the most accurate predictor of W/L outside of points scored/points allowed.



BYU Offense: 75 comp, 122 att, 1006 yards, 9 TD, 1 INT, 154.27 PER, 62.3%

BYU Defense: 69 comp, 138 att, 780 yards, 3 TD, 10 INT, 90.16 PER, 50.0%



UTEP Offense: 67 comp, 122 att, 808 yards, 5 TD, 4 INT, 117.52 PER, 54.9%

UTEP Defense: 83 comp, 136 att, 969 yards, 9 TD, 0 INT, 142.72 PER, 61.0%

Do you think that UTEP having many of their injured players now completely healthy will change these numbers at all.

Their offensive numbers maybe, I'll post some later. Not their defensive ones as much.



Injuries may have hurt, but I'm not sure UTEP has much confidence, which is something injuries may not rectify - especially if we jump on them early.



And their QB is still hurt. He'll have surgery post-bowl.

It's UTEP. Even when in their good streak, they still were in a game with UNM. A team we quit playing after 3 quarters to not kill them so bad.

I'm not sure where UTEP's injuries were, and how they affected the team. UTEP's QB, Vittatoe has played in all 12 games. He has 378 of the teams 396 attempts. They have six players who have more than 37 rushing attempts and only Vittatoe has a ypc below 4.3. They have eight players with 11 or more catches.



If you look at the four games before their last four here is UTEP's form before their current form:

UTEP Offense: 65 comp, 129 att, 864 yards, 7 TD, 5 INT, 116.80 PER, 50.4%

UTEP Defense: 80 comp, 133 att, 813 yards, 8 TD, 3 INT, 126.84 PER, 60.2%



That's a poor offense there too and a slightly better defense. But in all honesty, their defense is going to be absolutely shredded by BYU. Over their last eight games:

UTEP Defense: 163 comp, 269 att, 1782 yards, 17 TDs, 3 INT, 134.87 PER, 60.6%



Last four games Rush D: 149 carries, 823 yards, 5.5 ypc. 8 TDs

Last eight games Rush D: 311 carrier, 1550 yards, 5.0 ypc. 11 TDs

I suspect the game may be close to start out but as our offensive line starts to wear their dline down i suspect we run all over them. I think we win by a minimum of two touchdowns.

I think the game will start close - something like 0-0 at kickoff - and then it will be all BYU. I wouldn't be surprised to see us win the 1st quarter by two touchdowns and we go into the half up 21 or more. I do agree that our OL will wear them down and we'll just run the ball the majority of the second half.

BYU shut down three very good offenses in TCU, :utard: and SDSU. They will do even better against the Miners. The game will be over by mid 2d quarter. Bronco expects no less.

Trainer Kevin Morris said BYU DB Corby Eason sprained his ankle on Tuesday. Was in a boot Wednesday, will be a game-day decision.

I must say though, other than INT's (which is a huge deal) is there really a meaningful difference in your first set of stats? On offense they are not too different. Rushing seems significantly different.

I would be interested to compare the last four opponents for each team and their RPI as a context for better analysis.

UTEP went 1-3 in their last four games. They beat a 7-6 SMU team and lost to 9-3 Tulsa, 5-7 Marshall and 10-2 Arkansas.



In the four games before that they were 2-2 (winning the first two). They beat 4-8 Rice and 1-11 New Mexico and lost to 4-8 UAB and 4-8 Tulane.
