BYU Low for Langi

I just checked Scout.com. Langi has USC & the Scuzzie Yewts listed as"High." BYU is listed as "Low."



I guess we're out of the mix w/ Harvey. Oh well. So sad - too bad!!!!

Meh, didn't think he would fit in well anyway. I thought Stanford was his first choice, guess he couldn't make the grades.

Here's what Harvey Langi has listed -



USC - High - Offer/yes

Yewts - High - Offer/yes

BYU - Low - Offer/yes

Colo - Low - Offer/yes

Stanf - Low - Offer/yes

UCLA - Low - Offer/yes

Wash - Low - Offer/yes

Wyo - Low - Offer/yes



He always had Stanford listed as "High." Academic reality must have set in.

USC and Utah are a good fit for him. better than byu and stanford.

Here's to Langi being the next big time recruit to stiff BYU, and then come crawling back years later. With Juice for 2-3 more years, I could honestly care less about this guy. He's not big enough to fit into our offense anywhere. He is like JJ back when he was fast. Except for not as big... Where do you put him?

Yeah, he's not a byu guy and hasn't claimed to be - so I guess stiff might be the wrong word...



my point was more that he doesn't want to sign at BYU, but he'll want to be here in 2-3 years. Just ask Te'o, Shwenke, Kaveinga, Jamora, etc.



He will be the next, in a not-so-short line.

Harvey is way bigger than JJ. He is more like an Unga, with a little better speed. Not sure if he blocks as well or catches passes as well thgouh. But size wise, he is like Unga. Big kid.



Personally, I have not thought he would come to BYU since spring. The HC and Langi are not a fit based upon his recent activities, plain and simple. I thought Stanford would be his destination, but he probably could not make the grades. So USC or Utah make sense, and I fully expect to see him at Utah. With Asiata and Wide leaving, he has a better chance to play fast at Utah, and that has to be something to consider for him.

JJ is listed as 5'9" 190 lbs. Langi is 6'2" 220. Watching Langi play since he was a Sophomore (my son goes to his school), I have really hoped he would choose BYU. I do feel he may be better fit for a different position, though. He may well be the best offensive player in Utah the last 2 years. However, I still wonder if he would be bette served for safety or Linebacker.



It doesn't really matter anymore for BYU, so I guess I will just let it go. We will be fine at the RB spot.

Langi isn't 6-2. He is closer to 6' than 6'2.



I'm 6'3 and he doesn't even match my height with cleats and a helmet on.



For some reason I thought JJ was a little taller - like 5-10 or 5-11. My bad.

Small kind. We have a great stable and a QB who will make our RB's even better because the D won't be able to cheat against the run. Enjoy Utah because it is not going to be a lot of fun. Wide can't throw and once other teams really get a clue on this (like ND did), they will cheat on the run and it will make for a long day.

Unga had his challenges in high school which he over came before joining BYU. I would hope that Langi would have caught the same vision Unga did. I see him being a power runner in the same mold as Unga should he commit to BYU.



Good luck to him wherever he decides.

I hope he chooses the Yewts. In the future - he will regret that decision. I really believe that.

Also, Santa may not be the only one making a "visit" to Provo this week. Don't slam the door on this one just yet. Bronco and BYU have not. Not saying he is a BUY commit, just saying it could still happen.

I'd like to see him at BYU, but even more I'd like to not see him with utah. I don't want them getting any perceived victory over BYU; it's like gasoline for their beatup and misguided self esteem.



I'll chime in on his size since I stood 2 feet away from him for about 10 minutes after the Oklahoma game. He's not 6'2" but he's got an inch on me and I'm 6'0". I'm 235 lbs and I'm much bigger than he was, in fact I found him almost skinny.



I sat next to some of the Pendleton and Bingham clan during the Oklahoma game and JPs uncle told me he thought then that Langi was a no brainer to BYU... but that was before Utah became a pac none team.



He's announcing at the all-american bowl Jan 8th... He'd be a nice addition but not at a major position of need.



I personally think this kid needs BYU and that he'll regret every minute that he's on the USC or U campus.



Maybe a 62-0 beatdown by the hands of Boise State will change his mind ;)

I don't know Langi, but BYU is pretty loaded at the RB position, and Quezada is going to be tough to displace, and we haven't yet seen some of BYU's other RB recruits (Phillips), so Langi might be nervous about being able to play at BYU. Utah loses bother their big stud RBs to graduation, so there may be an opening there, and he may be looking at that, whereas BYU loses nobody.



I don't think it matters, he can go where he wants, BYU will be great anyway. What I like about BYU right now is we have so much talent, and are developing so much depth, that getting one big recruit, just isn't that important.
