Past Big XII rumor

I heard today from a (non-team, non-administration, but reputable) source that prior to or around the time of our announcement to go Indy there was a Big XII offer or one was imminent but without a guarantee of no Sunday play and that it was either rejected (if there was such an offer) or shut down before an offer would be made.



I have my doubts, for example, Who would the 12th team be?-they wouldn't stop at 11. I hadn't heard or seen anything about this before. Anyone hear anything like this?

I have heard nothing on this. But 1 thing I can guarantee is that Sunday play would 100% scuttle acceptance on any invite. The BoT will not budge on that issue ever.

I have heard of this as well. The problem isn't the major men's sports. Football doesn't usually play on Sunday, and the men's basketball tournament has finished on Saturday for a few years in the Big XII. The problem is with women's sports and the olympic sports. Those events often happen on Sunday, and can be harder logistically to move. If they want BYU, it would probably take a few years to move some of these post-season events (especially the women's basketball tournament), so it wouldn't be an immediate move.



Also, we just might find that BYU is leading another revolution in college football, as some of the bigger name schools become independent if it works for BYU, at which point joining a conference would not be in our best interest.

Or football and Bball. Remember 2nd in the B-12 is 99.9999% invite to the dance, not so with finishing 2nd in the WCC.
