RPI hovering around 5 now.

I don't think I remember being in the top 5 in RPI since the Michael Smith, Andy Toolson, Jeff Chatman, Marty Haws days in 87-88.

Though I'm not even sure that RPI existed back then; I just followed Sagarin in the USA today.

The power rankings aren't too shabby for BYU either. BYU is number 6, with New Mexico at 11 and SDSU at 14.

Wow. We'll I'm not sure we're the 2nd best team in the country, I'm starting to change my mind that we're only in the 20-25 range. I'm starting to think we might be a top 15 team.

I'm reserving judgement until we see how these guys respond to this veritable trap game this weekend. I have to admit I'm a little scared of UCLA. We benefit in no way by playing a team with good players and a bad record.



Hopefully Noah and Chris will be 100% by saturday.

Yea, people were talking of AU being a trap game, so as long as the BB team sees all of the remaining games as trap games, we'll be fine. There is no one left on our NC schedule that we can't beat and while we played well against AU, I also saw them shoot a poor game. it happens and that's what worries me always, but even when that happened in the S. Padre Island tournament that happened to us, we were still able to pull through, so i'm feeling a bit more confident now.

I'm a little worried about UCLA. It's on the road, with PAC 10 refs. However, I think we will make it happen.

As for how good this team is, they are a better team now than they were against South Florida and St. Mary's. Their shots are starting to fall. Prior to the St. Mary's game they had not shot over 50% for a game and they had 3 games under 40%. Since that game, they have one game under 50% (47.7% vs Creighton). However, since the St. Mary's game they have played tougher competition. Based on RPI, their games rank as follows:

Utah St.

Vermont

Arizona

St. Mary's

South Florida

Creighton

Hawaii

Fresno St

Mississippi Valley

Chicago St.

The Average RPI of the teams since St. Mary's is 60+ points better than the RPI of the teams prior.

I'm worried about UCLA too, but was more worried about Arizona. We should be able to handle UCLA.



This will be our second true road game (SLC and Glenn Falls really don't count). We played well on the road against Creighton, so I'm not as worried as I was.

Honestly I think the two best opponents on our schedule are UNLV and San Diego St.



So I expect us to play zone against UCLA and to beat them by 10 or more.

I am a little more worried about UCLA than I was about AZ. But I was waiting to see if the blowout from last year was going to be a motivation to AZ and apparently is did the exact opposite at least thats what it appeared to me. (The ole "here we go again" syndrome).

I saw that in some polls UCLA was predicted to finish 2nd and AZ 3rd. Not bad on the rez if we beat both and they do finish in 2nd and 3rd at the end of the season.

My own thought is that this team is so good not just because of the trust in each other to make the play (evident in the fact that they continued to pass the ball to Anderson who finally sank a basket) but also work so well together. I have been so impressed with the zone D too. Man they can really get from place to place. It doesn't seem that anyone can get a clean look at the basket (unless it is from behind a high screen five feet behind the NBA line). And I give huge props to Rose for conditioning. I have not seen a single player lag yet. They look as fresh at the end as they did at the beginning (of course Davies has his way of getting "extra" rest :skeptic: )

You are correct. I checked, last year they used SEC refs for both games.
