BYUtv and the game this afternoon

So I live in Tucson and I thought the game coverage this afternoon was awful. I think I saw one replay (when Harstock got hurt) the entire game. There was an attempt on the intentional foul later in the game when Emery was fouled but they didn't have the right angle. Was this just because of the location up in Salt Lake or is this what we will have to deal with for all the games filmed by BYUtv. It was so bad it made me long for the mtn. At least they have more than two cameras in the building and enough people working in the van to get a replay in less than five minutes.

I read that they purposely made it crappy 'cause they hate you...It wasn't very nice of them...I hope you get your money back.

Are you joking? I watched it on BYUtv, and I saw no less than 10 replays.

YO!!!! Living in Florida and being able to watch the game live on my computer was awesome. jvquarterback might think that watching it on BYUTV is mere table scraps, but this starving BYU fan thought those scraps were an excellent feast. BTW, the dessert, being able to watch Jimmer, was sweet.

I do think the guy in the truck controlling the replays could use a little more training, but that will get better. It could have been worse. There could have been no TV.

I fall into the "saw plenty of replays" crowd, but wished there were more. I believe that part of the reason we were short on replays was because of the speed of the game. Perhaps the refs could have held onto inbound balls a split second longer or perhaps byutv could have showed a replay while teams were bringing the ball down court but both sides seemed like they were pushing the tempo which limited the replay windows. Think no-huddle football offense and what that does to the football replay guys.



wouldn't it have been worse if they were showing a replay and we missed a live play?

If you want tons of replays, the mtn is the place to watch, but you'll miss about half of every developing play.

So when are they going to put that state of the art HD facility in use?? Would love to see it being used for both basketball and football next year

SO true.

Watching the game on BYUtv is better than watching the game on the mountain which is better than not being able to watch the game at all.

If it was I wasn't impressed. I had to dumb down the picture on my satellite receiver to 480P to get a more clear picture. Kind of like I used to with the MTN without HD

I watched it online on my 25" monitor and it looked HD-ish for the most part to me. There were stretches when the picture became Mtn-esque, but the pixels were recognizable enough to tell what was going on.

Just because BYUtv broadcasts in HD doesn't mean your satellite/cable provider is going to carry it in HD. I just adjusted my screen size like I always do with non-HD programming, and enjoyed the game. When you get the internet feed, it actually looks better.

The game was not brodcast in HD. They did use HD cameras to shoot the game but BYU currently does not have HD broadcasting rights yet as of yet, I was told by my source who works for the BYU Athletic department at the Hawaii game, it should all be in place for all the games next season.

You have to have separate rights to broadcast in HD? :skeptic: Very lame.



So glad we're going to be away from the Mtn.

It's in HD online, but not on TV.
