Kyle Collinsworth.

I'm WAY pumped that BYU has this kid. He is confident, plays smart, plays bigger than he is, was driving to the basket well, and I'm impressed with his ball handling. He looked comfortable with arizona's full court pressure. He's progressed a lot this year already.



Anyone know what mission plans he has?

I am pretty sure he is planning on a mission.

He and Haws and Davies and little Emery and little Haws are going to be awesome.

KC just needs to learn how to shoot.

KC is a player, he is going to be very, very good. He is only a young freshman you know. I was impressed with him today, he plays smart, tough, bangs with the bigs and plays pretty good defense too. Rose has some great young players in the program, on missions, or committed to BYU.

Except those four will never be on the court together. Collinsworth will go on his mission before Haws or little Emery get back, and won't return until Davies is gone.

I was really impressed with him on Saturday. I like to see him getting more confident and aggressive with the ball. Team played lights out. All of them.

yup, if he could knock down 20 footers consistantly it would be amazing. BUT, I'll take a guy who doesn't hurt the team and knows how to handle pressure, and get to the paint with the ball. BYU has a lot of good shooters to kick it out to.

Back on topic; KC has a tremendous hoops IQ, long arms and a relatively strong and athletic body. He also knows how to stay out of foul trouble and still contest shots. This is why Abouo and KC were so devastatingly good in the zone d yesterday.



The problem is that when we're in tight games at the end, you cannot risk having him out there because he's an abysmal shooter from the line and outside and to compound that problem, Abouo is the type of player that needs a little rhythm to get going; but they're both strong and capable defenders and it showed against AZ.



If we could combine Tyler Haws shooting consistency with KCs IQ and handles, we'd have.... well we'd have Danny Ainge.



I know we're all giddy right now, particularly because our interior guys have shown they can defend... but if we want to be elite this year, we need the Collinsworths to improve their stroke from the line and from 10 feet out.

Call it lack of confidence if you will, but at least KC knows he doesn't have much of a shot or at least isn't hitting it right now, so he's not just jacking it up. He's had some open looks, but instead of shooting he's driving and looking for better shots.



Sometimes in basketball you can help your team by what you don't do.

KC is exactly the type of player we needed this year to go deep in the tourney. If he is a replacement for Haws then he's better for the following reasons: He is taller, a much better rebounder, a tougher defender, and he can get to and finish at the rim. The only way in which Haws is better is his outside shooting, but as I've noted repeatedly we are such a better team when 4 guys are not jacking up 3's all game. I'll take the kid who helps us get stops against top 25 teams and won't let Leonard and others board on us all game. This is nothing against Haws btw, I just think we need more of this skillset at BYU as opposed to lining a bunch of 6'3" sharp-shooting white kids around the arc and hoping we hit our shots every night.
