what do you do if your family roots for the darkside?

I grew up on the East Coast. My parents went to both the Y and the U. When I was looking at schools before I had any concept of the rivalry; my dad recommended the Y with NO mention of the U. He always applauded my decisions and has come to multiple events at the Y.



fast forward several years and the family moves to Utah. and I've had front row seats to the most disturbing trends. Ever since Utah's Sugar Bowl win over Alabama, Dad started buying season tickets to the :utard:, and last week a :utard: flag appeared outside the house, and :utard: paraphenlia has appeared all throughout the house such that visiting makes me feel uncomfortable.



While I don't consider myself the most vociferous anti- :utard: fan, It's strange, feeling like the previously Y-friendly family is now under full-Lamanite practices. Is there anything that can be done?

Tough to ex-communicate your family. Maybe disfellowship or probation. :P TIC

Fredette does. And she teaches in Taylorsville. Is she married?

It's strange around my family. My Mom, Dad, Uncle (he was in the same fraternity w/ Steven Covey) & Grandfather all went to & graduated from the UofU. A number of years ago I asked them "Why?" The said - "back in the day" that BYu was just a big high school. Not a serious college - let alone a university.



So - my family has fond feelings for the old UofU. And they root for them when ever they play - except for when the play they "Y." Now, when the Y & Yewts take the field against each other - the line is drawn & everyone - everyone cheers for the Cougs. My oldest daughter had a serious boyfriend (attending the UofU) until football season started last year. He became so obnoxious, and she became so irritated with his attitude towards BYU - she dumped him!!! That's my girl!!!



So - my advice?? I think he will come around. Especially after 3 straight years of finishing in 4th place in the PAC-10. Wait & see. They are going to get a lesson in humility in the near future. Ha-ha-ha!!!!!
