BYU D under Bronco vs BCS Champ Teams

Here are BYU's defensive numbers since Bronco took the defense over following the Utah State game and where those numbers would rank defensively.

Rushing Defense: 74 ypg, #1

Passing Defense: 198 ypg, #30

Passing Efficiency Defense: 107.31, #9

Total Defense: 272 ypg, #5

Scoring Defense: 16.1 ppg, #7

Wow, just wow. These are pretty huge gains (I know some if this comes from playing the dregs of the MWC, but still...). As much as everyone is bagging on Anae, we needed Hill gone much more.

Bronco wasn't messing around when he took over the D. I'm glad he came out and said he was having fun again since taking over the D. I expect next years D to be incredible.

interesting. Unfortunately this snapshot was also when we played the weak part of our schedule.

We played TCU, Utah, and SDSU in that stretch, and those are some good offensive teams. Would like to see how we rate just vs those 3 teams. I think would be a fair and telling look at our D. kitic??

Yeah, but put up our defensive numbers vs Utah St. against any comparable team after Bronco took over and there's still a substantial difference.

Very true and I don't think anybody really had any idea either. I thought our defense was doing about what I expected it to do under hill, put our offense in position to win it for us. Didn't know that they were capable of so much more with a better coach leading them. I think Bronco is mean to be at ground level with the players. that is where is best used. He gets a lot out of the players.



Now, I wonder if we can replicate that with a new coach on offense? Do we have an upgrade that will use our talent better than anea currently does? That is question I don't pretend to 'know' but hopefully bronco has an opinion. I wouldn't be suprised if Doman gets the promotion. i also wouldn't be suprised if things stay the same. Will be interesting.
