Seeing the rumor on the right about Urban Meyer stepping down, I have decided on a rumor myself:



Kyle Whittingham is heading to Florida and taking Robert Anae as his Offensive Coordinator.

I think it is smart though. The Florida U pres is a former U president, Whit was short listed at Tennessee last year, his credentials are solid, he and Urban have a connection, and he has to be on the list for any real coaching vacancy right now. Pattersom Whittingham, Peterson and Bronco are all solid candidates.

I used the word factless because it reminds me about Whittingham's use of the word sackless. And since there are plenty of haters for Anae, I threw him in the mix for good humor. Personally, I am curious to see what happens. This would handicap the Utes in recruiting for the next couple years in my opinion if he left.



I don't think this deal comes together. But I don't mind being wrong on a guess.

The worst news would be if Utah took another one of our former Cougars for their staff. When was the last time a former Ute was on our staff? I don't mean former Ute coach either. I mean a former player. Anyone?

This ups the chance that utah loses whitt because miami and florida probably both have him on their short list and the odds of them landing who they want just got harder.



if whitt leaves who do they replace him with? do they bring anderson back?

As of now... I don't see Kyle leaving Utah for a long time. Unless something negative happens between Utah and Kyle.

you forgot mullen. i think mullen is probably one on their list. he probably goes to florida. miami then is left with those guys you mentioned. i doubt kyle gets seriously considered until those above him reject any offer. patterson probably rejects miami, harbaugh does, carroll does, stoops doesn't and not sure about peterson.

Florida and Miami would probably pay anywhere from $2.5-4M per for a new caoch, depending on the hire. I can see why a guy would want to go there. Great recruiting, huge challenges, and great pay for 3-4 years if you suck. Imagine making $10M in 3 years, when your current job would take 7-10 years. Big incentive.

I have been impressed that Petersen and Patterson have said in the past that they want to stay put if a bigger fish came calling. I don't like Patterson, but I respect his loyalty. So this will be interesting to see who, if any of these, take the chance.

Don't forget Kalani Sitake, who played for BYU and graduated in 2000 (and can be seen with a sweet spin move in the highlights for the 2000 BYU-Utah game at justanotherdumb.com/byu), and is now Utah's defensive coordinator.

The BYU coaching legacy is impressive. The list of former BYU players-turned coaches and assistant coaches who came through here almost looks like a hall of fame fraternity.



I think keeping Bronco around for a few more years will add significantly to that fraternity. All of this temporary insanity of which coach to keep, promote, or demote will be sorted out soon enough and all will be well once again.



I really look forward to our future as independent and that Utah has their own new world, too. I think we will return to dominance once again!

I agree. As I've said before, I think that kryle wants to be the yewt's Lavell Edwards.
