I think Newton will be found to have violated the rules along with his father and Auburn will vacate the 2010 season.

The Heisman Trust should have all voters turn in two ballots. One if Newton remains eligible, another if/when he's ruled to have been a paid professional at Auburn.

I don't think the voters give it to Newton. Too much potential for more embarrassment, and the voters are all trust members or previous winners who want to avoid another Reggie Bush dilemma. I think it'll be close, but I think James gets it.

Better to give it to a woman beater than a cheater and rule breaker anyway. ;)

it seemed like on Game Day last Saturday, that that group thought he'd get it and one of them actually votes. I say he gets it and they have come up with the perfect defense that the son didn't know what the father was doing. Right.

Newton has this thing locked up, until they finally decide to "investigate" five years down the road. It, and Auburn's season, will be vacated, but it won't matter because they'll already have reaped the benefits and they'll get the USC two-years slap on the wrist, making it all worth it to lie, cheat, and steal.

I voted for it being removed from Cam. I do not believe for a second that Cam had zero knowledge of what his father was doing. I seem to remember hearing something about Cam really wanting to attend Miss. State but chose Auburn because "the money is too good." It was in a text message to a recruiter for one of those schools.



And isn't there something in the SEC rulebook that even if a family member receives benefits it is a violation?

Voted for James - I think that the Heisman People can't suffer "Reggie Bush - version 2.0" .



It's not like anyone outside of the media takes this award seriously anyways...

I like Moore for the hardware this year. He's won too many games to not be seriously considered.

Remember the Miss America Pagaent of 1984? Remember Vanessa Wiliams giving up her crown? Well in 1985 Sharlene Wells of Utah won it. I'm sure that Sharlene was very capable and may have won it regardless of the previous year's scandal, but I have wondered if the pagaent officials intentionally tried to avoid future embarassment by crowning Sharlene Wells.



Similarly, I think the Heisman voters may want to avoid future embarassment. I vote for James.

I'm ashamed to admit that I just Wikipedia'ed Vanessa Williams.

NCAA and SEC will still be hemming and hawing over Newton and his dad and by then the snazzy $50k SUV papa Newton got miraculously will have depreciated in value so much that the NCAA will wring their hands and slap Auburn on the wrists, saying do that again and we'll really let you have it...and we mean it!
