Deep Shades of Blue--making a comeback?

I think Brett Richins has discovered that Deep Shades of Blue isn't the gold mine he thought it would be without Gooch's and Staffieri's contributions. So, he's added SEVEN former players (four football, three basketball) to the team to help out.

This is great news. Now to see just how involved and informative the new adds are. If anything, it will at least have me checking out DSOB every so often again.

I'm excited for the added contributors. I've still regularly followed the blog over the year, and although the spelling has improved (tic) I miss having the inside perspective. I like the future schedule portion of the blog too. Helps me keep up with all the changes.

I admit I'm kind of torn on the issue.



I wonder what he's paying the guys.

I liked deep shades of blue when Quinn Gooch was contributing, but I haven't paid any attention to the site in quite a while.



It's always nice to read what players and former players are saying.

One of them is Eric Drage! I love that guy! I dressed up as him for Halloween at least once, maybe twice. Eric Drage could catch a tomahawk missile behind his back with one hand and both eyes closed and the entire NY Jets defense piled on top of him. I can't wait to read his contributions. :)

My only problem is that you have only Harline who played under Bronco and none from the Bball side that played under Rose as HC. So I see them saying a lot of things like, well Lavell or "he who shall not be named" (tic) did it this way and we as players etc. And for Bball sub in Cleveland, Reid, or whoever was HC when they were there. Not quite the same as with Gooch and Staffieri who were there under Bronco and give a more contemporary account or reaction. I would would think maybe the new guys except Harline will probably sound a lot like Via Sikahema, good articles, great advice, but not as deep inside as what we have seen from Gooch, Staffieri, and others that actually played for Bronco.

Drage is a Stud with a capitol S. He is a rabid BYU fan, a firey competitor and an extremely nice guy. I am biased because I have met him and had dealings with him when he was working as a recruiter for a staffing agency in SLC. In fact, he helped me get my job. It was fun to talk BYU football with him back then. He will have great insights since he is a former college football player. I would hope that if the recievers coach opens up at BYU again he will get a long look for that position because I know he would love to get involved with coaching at BYU, and I would love to see the fire he had on the field reflected in our recievers.

Jimmy Balderson played for Coach Rose.

You are right. I must have switched him with another player after I read the names and then looked up when they played. He did play for Rose. Well, at least we will have one for each sport that was directley coached by Bronco or Rose as HC.



The suprising thing is I remember Wesley more than Balderson and Wesley finished up 10 years ago! Can you believe it has been that long?
