My wife and I sat right next to him at the Tourney game in Philly (thanks to Craigo putting us in contact with Charles Abouo about extra tickets he wasn't using). Obviously there was plenty not to enjoy about the game, but we got to chat with him for a while. Really very pleasant guy. Very kind, asked us where we were from, and thanked us for coming all that way to show support (shoot, it was 3 hours, which was much less than his trip). Really top-notch guy.

Funny thing about us getting up to see that game (totally unrelated to Jimmer's dad, I just love telling the story) was that I was working nights at the time as the on-shift engineer. There was no way I'd have been able to take the day off, because my lead was out of the country on vacation, and I was his backup-lead, so I was covering for him.

Leading up to selection Sunday, and knowing that there were 4 possible first-round sites, I knew that the ONLY way we could get to the game would be if it was in Philly AND the first game of the day. It'd mean my wife would have to pick me up from work at 7am, drive straight to Philly (negotiating BOTH DC and Baltimore rush hour traffic), and then drive straight back after the game was over, and likely drop me straight back off at work at 6:30pm. Selection Sunday came. Philadelphia it was! I couldn't dare to hope. Unbelievably, the next day they announced we were slotted first game! And the trip went off without a hitch (except for the obvious, of course). I even managed about one hour of sleep on the drive home, and didn't even fall asleep at work that night. And despite the loss, it was SO worth it! I felt like SUCH a rockin' fan after that! Good times.
