A dude on cb is saying the drew in a radio interview said byu is working it with the holiday bowl. he also said his feeling was that two offensive coaches are leaving or moving to different places on the team.

I heard it this morning. Was on 1302kfnz with PK.



I beleive the Holiday Bowl stuff for sure. The Pac-12 just dropped the Holiday Bowl down a rung and put the Alamo Bowl ahead of it for more $$$, so I could see the Holiday bowl not wanting PAC-12's #3 if they can get a 10-win BYU. But I think BYU needs to hit 9-10 wins to get that invite.



As to the coaching changes, those rumors have been out there for several weeks. And they are just rumors for now. Having said that, I suspect that they apply to 2 coaches in particular--Robert Anae and Patrick Higgins. Jay Drew could just be commenting on that, because really, no one knows yet. But the smoke signals are there for sure. What I hear is that Higgins will leave and Cahoon will get that job. Not sure if Anae will be reassigned or let go. Personally, I hope he simply gets reassigned. Not sure I love how he has handled the TE postion this year, but he has worked well with Harline, Pitta and George in the past, so I respect that body of work. If he is willing to turn over play calling, but keep positional duties, I would be great with that. If our O line coach ever left, would not mind turning that back over to Anae, because he is a solid O line coach for sure.

I still think the LV Bowl comes calling as well.

I think we'll see a 3-tier bowl structure - based on the # of wins, and not including any potential BCS. Like 10+ wins = Holiday, 8+ = Las Vegas, and 6+ = New Mexico or Humanitarian or some other crappy bowl.



We all know that the Holiday Bowl loves BYU, and would no doubt rather have BYU come play Nebraska this year than UW.

If they wouldn't let Chad Lewis start coaching right away, no chance Cahoon starts. They'll make him do that volunteer stuff like Chad did/does.



I haven't liked Higgins ever. I have said for a few years changes are needed but Bronco apparently doesn't have power?

Bronco has the power. For example, see Hill. I just think they chose to wait until after the season for the offensive changes. From what I hear, that is what happened. A decision was made to wait. Making too many mid season would have been a mistake. Waiting until afte the year when you can interview and hire guys out there you like makes more sense. Plus, gives guys Spring ball to get ready for fall camp.



As to Chad Lewis, not even the same thing. Coach Anae is the OC/TE coach, so no spot open for Chad. If Higgins leaves, Cahoon could slide in easily to an open spot, unless Lewis given first crack, but I think Cahoon makes more sense. Different positions, different techniques. Cahoon is hte type of guy who would makea great coach because he excelled on effort and instinct, not raw talent. So he can coach what he did to get better. Great talent wise often can not coach because they do not relate to less gifted athletes.

Not positive how realiable everything I've heard, but my sources have been mostly accurate in the past. Here's what I heard:

-Higgins is gone, Cahoon likely to take the job.

-Chad Lewis is too busy/has other commitments to be a full time paid coach but very much wants to be involved with the program.

-Anae is going into a council to review his performance in the next day---several high level boosters want him gone and this meeting could cement that. His performance review last year was that "he wasn't doing enough with the talent around him" and it might be an ugly meeting this time.

-No word on a replacement O.C.
