MarsShot in the dark, here it goes...
What: The Christmas Bowl in Los Angeles (first proposed in 2009, originally denied due to lack of a second partner... problem solved!)
Where: Would be played in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (home of USC... it would be good for their fans to be able to watch a bowl game!)
Who: BYU (replacing original WAC #2 target) vs. PAC-12 #7 (Or PAC-12 South #3? Possible back-up, MAC #3, IF the PAC-10 doesn't have enough bowl eligible teams one year)
When: Sometime the week of Dec. 21-24, the original proposed date, OR the later proposed date of Dec. 27th
Why: Would benefit the Children's Miracle Network- "Creating Christmas Miracles for Children in Need" (Bronco would love this!)
How: Supported by Steve Young (he's already gotten involved- Jerry Rice is in too!)
Assumedly an ESPN bowl
The Verdict?
Slightly better recruiting/media/weather location than Las Vegas, farther drive away from BYU campus, still in the middle of a very large Mormon population, possibly slightly better or worse date, slightly worse opponent. Unknown money. Possibility to perhaps trade up opponents in the future.
But will this annual holiday game actually materialize?
