Why is Gordon Monson such a douchebag?

I'm not from Utah. Can someone explain this guy to me?

Because he doesn't care about what he writes. He doesn't care or really believe in the opinions he espouses. He cares about page hits and readers' reactions. He's a fake and hollow person who doesn't hold to opinions. He doesn't believe in anything other than wanting people to read or listen to his fake opinions. He doesn't care what you think about what he writes/says because he doesn't either. He just wants you to pay attention to him.

Gordon Monson kicks people/teams when they are up and kicks them harder when they are down. He never writes anything that is remotely informative at all.



This is the guy who wrote an article stating that Collie is still haunted by his "Magic Happens" comment and published it the week Collie played in the Super Bowl. He didn't quote Collie or anyone close to Collie in the article at all. He just tried to kick him while he was up.

There's a lot of truth to what kitic has said. Monson not only being a complete phony is actually a bully. He wants to make as many people as possible feel bad, which is why he most often goes after the Cougars. He has little interest in the truth, other in how he can spin it to make you feel bad. Luckily for him, he's in a profession where being a bully garners a lot of attention, and attention means hits and views and so he does well in his job.

He just tried to kick him because he is a cougar.

It's funny because Monson went to BYU. He was an intern in the BYU Sports Information Department.

Exactly. BYU fans make up the majority of his market and in order to get the most readers he constantly writes stuff that makes the BYU fans mad.

Monson starts talking when he asks "What was the reason for the offensive inefficiency, Jim?" And Boylen is dead on with his response to Monson.

Why is the grass green? It just is. Gordon was born that way. uhhh....er...uh...new mexico bowl.....eh....uh...der.... is stupid. listening to him on the radio is like hitting your head against a wall. He sounds stupid and he is incredibly boring. i can't think of worse personalities to have on the radio. gordon and jake. gordon is old and crotchety and jake is young stupid and incredibly inarticulate for the radio.

All I can say is that I have never cared much about the New Mexico Bowl. Only reason I care this year is because BYU is in it. So what Monson fails to grasp is that BYU fans care simply because BYU plays in that game. Other fans won't, but I don;t care because I want to see why team win it and don;t care what Penn State fans think about it, or Utah's. Honestly, go look at 2/3 of the bowls the Utes have won in the 9 bowl win streak. Did many people really care about those? No, but they won and the streak looks good. BYU needs to win, get the bowl record improved and set themselves up for 2011. Pretty simple really.

I'm surprised so many here have never seen the claymation movie dedicated in part to Gordon Monson's life story, also known as "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer". In the end we learn that Gordie, aka the abominable snowman, is really just understood and wants to be loved. I guess we're waiting for that part of the story to unfold. that is exactly why I wouldn't even click on it. He knows by putting such a stupid title to the article that he'll get more hits. I refuse. I'd just like to say, "Honk if you think Gordon Monson is a idiot".

Monson likes to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. He's a muckraker journalist. HE especially likes to attack anyone who shows any semblance of selfrighteousness or holier than thou individuals, which means he goes after BYU and especially Bronco Mendenhall because of their LDS mission.



I don't expect him to be a BYU syncophant, like they have for Utah and Boise State media, but it would be nice if he would actually respect the team that has the majority of fans in Utah.

Oh heck, we wouldn't have as much kicking him around if he wasn't so obnoxious. I'll never understand how he has been able to parlay such behavior into so many well paying jobs--I give him that much credit, but I've always believed that those who pay his salary are just some BYU haters themselves and they know he has gotten under the skin of many a Cougar fan. Pukes don't like him much, but they do realize that most of his vemon is directed south rather than north.

I can confirm he got beat up - he was on the honor code board, and was the only one who wanted to suspend Jim McMahon. 30,000 students beat the @&*& out of him.

I'm guessing his mommy didn't hug him enough.

To go from ute "fan" to a legit fan, you have to increase the doucheness. He tries too. As most ute "fans" try to become real ones they have to become worse people.

Two things. First, BYU ends up with more fans in NM than Utah does in LV-let me re-phrase that, more at the game-since most that go will be in the bars or casinos and will forget about the game.



Second, hopefully they draw Nev or BSU because if they do thus ends the bowl win streak.



BYU fans are fans. Gordo just doesn't understand that since he is around Ute fans all the time.
