World Cup in 2022?

I think we're getting it. There's just too much money available for FIFA to not bring it to the US.

Qatar in 2022! Unbelievable....Nothing like seeing (or playing) soccer in 118 degrees!

It was a complete joke. FIFA talks about getting into new markets and how the Middle East is one of those new markets. Well, guess what? The untapped portion of the US market is a new market to FIFA as well and is larger market than anything in the Middle East.



Total farce.

It's unbelievable! Qatar? Do they even have a national team? Supposedly China was supposed to be in line to bid on 2026, but with Asia getting 2022, that means China will have to wait until 2030 at the earliest. 2026 will be a European country (unless the US can somehow sneak in there).



And we think the BCS is bad. FIFA is the epicenter of Old World politics...

I love that only 4 comments have been made of this. :) I wonder if anyone on CC even knows that this all went down in the last 24 hours. It's too bad, it would have been awesome to get the world cup in America again.

well, I did buy into the whole "unifying a divided country/area" argument. Somehow bringing it to Atlanta to heal Civil War wounds didn't carry the same weight.



Maybe that was why.



I'd love to go to a World Cup game. But not Qatar- any country that doesn't know a u always follow a Q should be disqalafied in my book.

Shouldn't a u follow that 'q' in disqalafied? not to mention the second 'a' should be an 'i' as in disqualified?
